The schedule for the 2026 CFP was released today.

Much like last year, there will be 1 island quarterfinal game, on New Year’s Eve, at 7:30 Eastern. That will be in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Then on New Years Day, the other 3 games take place. The Orange Bowl is a quarterfinal this year, and the game is at noon. God help everyone at that tailgate. Rose Bowl at 4:00 in its usual spot, Sugar Bowl at 8:00 that night.

Semifinals are Fiesta and Peach on Thursday 1/8 and Friday 1/9.

And the championship game is at Hard Rock on 1/19.

Last year the Quarterfinals were assigned to the conference winners based on proximity. Assume the Sugar Bowl will go to the SEC, Rose Bowl to the Big10, Orange Bowl to the ACC, and Cotton Bowl to the Big 12. Orange Bowl or Cotton Bowl could be a G5 conference winner if they're ranked high enough

Could end up with a 1st round bye and a 2nd round home game if we win the ACC

Yeah, in theory, if we have a good year and win the ACC, we could play 8 regular season games at Hard Rock, Game 13 in Charlotte for the ACC, a bye, a home game in the quarterfinals, a game in Atlanta in the semifinals, and Hard Rock for the Natty.

10 home games this year? Leggo.

Didn't even notice that the NCG was in Hard Rock.

Would be a great year to make a run

CFP needs to get the balls to go up against the NFL a bit. Have the semis on the Saturday of the 10th. Have the Championship game on the Saturday before the AFC & NFC Championship Sunday.

Take advantage of the weekend viewership instead of going weeknights all the time. Also allows for daylong parties.

Hard Rock hosting the OB & NC game? Nice.

ESPN would never do that since they have to appease the NFL.

That's why I said they need to get some balls. Not sure why they would even "need" to appease the NFL anyway unless it is in their contract. The Championship game would be played on a day of no football (the day before the NFL Conference Championships) and the semis would be on a Saturday of the divisional playoff round. ESPN gets what, 1 Wild Card playoff game?
