Takeaways:

We just played, likely, the best team we'll play all season. It's Week 1, so we don't know **** about anyone yet, BUT, you have to think, that is either the best or 2nd best team we'll play all year. So I'm not going to get too high or too low about any metrics, because very few teams played a squad like we did in their 1 game.

A couple notes though....rushing defense, only giving up 93 yards to the preseason first-team All-America RB, a VERY good backup, a more mobile QB than I gave him credit for, and what was universally discussed as one of the best OLs in the sport is absolutely fantastic. Heatherman did what we all expected him to do...don't let them chew you up on the ground, and let the chips fall where they may. Mission accomplished.

Won the turnover battle 2-0....not sure about you guys, but if we have a +24 turnover margin for the season, I think we'll be a good football team (side note...we won't, but 2-0 against that team is very encouraging).

Only gave up 2 negative plays. Look, I'm just as frustrated as many of you with the overall passivity in the 2nd half, and just pounding the ball into the A-gap. But this is what this team does, for better or worse. I believe the only 2 negative plays we had all night were the one sack on Beck, and when Marty Brown slipped on the 3rd and 1 in the 3rd quarter. So, the efficiency wasn't there Sunday night, but our philosophy is clearly, do not take negative plays, stay ahead of the chains, and keep moving.

These numbers will obviously normalize as other teams play tougher opponents, and we play weaker ones. The stats against Bethune Saturday won't count towards what I track here (FCS opponent), but we'll start to see things balance out.

All in all, a tough win against a tough opponent, and a pretty good performance on both sides of the ball from a numbers perspective. We weren't nearly as explosive on offense as we were with Cam (no ****, we're not going to be), but the defense played much more complimentary football, we didn't have any turnovers, and we held the ball for almost 34 minutes.

1-0. Now we get our scrimmage game like many other teams played last weekend, let's come out healthy, and get valuable game reps for the offense to start clicking a little more. I expect that to be our worst performance of the year offensively, from a YPP perspective (4.70 YPP on Sunday....we only had 1 game all last season worse than 6 YPP, and it was 5.86 vs FSU).
