Richter is a stoutly built well Put Together 6'4" 310lbs Kid That can Move, Which is hard To Find. Richter lead his team in tackles and tackles for loss despite being double & triple teamed all year. Full Disclosure his competition level is not very good but he dominated the LOS as expected by a superior player. He is also a basketball player for his high school.

Minnesota Football commit Logan Richter will greyshirt and enroll in 2019

"Athletes may also use a "grayshirt" year in which they attend school, but cannot enroll as a full-time student, and do not receive a scholarship for that year. This means that they are an unofficial member of the team and do not participate in practices, games, or receive financial assistance from their athletic department. Rather than waste the redshirt, the player can attend school as a part-time regular student and join the team later."

Richter would have been expected to redshirt anyways as Minnesota will add significant depth at the defensive tackle position next season when Alabama Transfer OJ Smith, 2017 redshirts Royal Silver, Noah Hickcox, and Malcolm Robinson and 2018 freshmen Elijah Teague and Mayan Ahanotu join the Gophers."

I am aware of why Richter was asked to greyshirt at Minn. OJ Smith will be a very good player for them. Richter by his red shirt freshmen year will be a solid rotation player. An after that could be a very good NT.

....Richter finished his senior season with 35 tackles in eight games played. He led the team with 13 tackles for a loss, totaling 52 yards. He finished with two sacks and forced teams to gameplan for his presence along the defensive line. Richter started his high school career as a sophomore when he totaled 20 tackles in eight games, three of which were for a loss. He followed it with strong junior season, finishing with 43 total tackles in eight games and leading the Yellowjackets with eight tackles for a loss.

Well... If we signed this kid it'd be historic!

He'd be the first guy to jump from the Pop Warner ranks, straight to Da U!!

Dude was asked to greyshirt at Minn..... no thanks

Have you watched the video at 300lbs he's first step is beating kids that he outweighs by 60 pounds easyly out of their stance. You can't coach that for someone that size.

As for him being asked to Gray shirt I'm just gonna assume that he was asked a Gray shirt because they've already got a lot of depth at nose tackle and since he's from Minnesota he would pay in state tuition so it makes it makes no difference to his family for one semester to pay part time tuition. His mom is a teacher in the local school system and his dad is a sales director for a regional internet service provider.

An I am guessing PJ Fleck feels he has a deeper bond with Richter because of the adoption facet and could ask him to grey shirt in order to add more players. As a NT Richter's job would be to take one for the defense on almost every play, so now he us taking one for the team by gray shirting.
