It wasn’t even a borderline situation. It was a clear troll. Them letting this guy continue is comparable to Enos going majority snaps under center for half the season.

I literally got shot down on the board by bAndrew yesterday for asking them to put an end to it. As if this was simply a case of unpopular opinion.

I don’t mean it was overrated at the time. I mean it’s still overrated now.

We finished 17th in FPI that year. The 2005 team (which was viewed as a failure at the time) actually would have been 3.2 point favorites over the 2017 team, per their FPI ratings. (And the difference between 9-3 and 10-3 is because the 2017 team played an FCS team.)

Viewing the 2017 season as a success shows how low our standards are now. We think being the 17th best team is a good season, and that Manny’s 3 game winning streak is a big sign of hope.

At 8-0 we’re taking over sports news and dominating the coverage. For two weeks after that, going into Game Day for the ND game and the week after, we took the news cycle, not sports, the whole news cycle almost every day from the dude who had owned it for over two years, Donald Trump. Nobody had done that until then or since then. Hey, after one more win we collapsed but for two weeks that team had college football terrified. Not so much off it but rather want it might mean— the return of Cane rule.
