Current Team Situation: Miami returns senior tight ends Clive Walford and Beau Sandland. Walford has improved his season totals with each year and the UM offense will look for him to make a jump in production in his final year. Sandland didn’t make the smoothest transition from junior college to Miami, but he is one of the hardest workers on the team and should have a more productive 2014 for UM. The Hurricanes also return sophomores Standish Dobard and Jake O’Donnell.

How Miami Addressed The Position In 2014: The Hurricanes added Georgia prospect Chris Herndon to the team, who is viewed by the coaching staff as an option at H-back. Athlete David Njoku may also grow into the position in the future.

Miami’s Need For 2015: The Hurricanes need to add a top talent to the tight end mix as Miami looks to replace their top player at the position for the last three years in Walford. Look for Miami to try to add one or maybe two tight ends in the 2015 class moving forward.

The 2015 Targets

Devonaire Clarington - The top tight end prospect in Florida this year, Clarington is a player that has the athleticism to be a real threat in the passing game. Clarington finished his junior season with 741 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He also totaled 72 tackles on defense. At this early stage in his recruitment, Clarington’s recruitment appears to be a battle between Miami and Alabama.

Trevill Holcy - Miami extended an offer to Holcy on signing day and the Hurricanes were the first school to offer. Holcy admits he grew up a fan of Miami and attended the Miami-Florida game early in the 2013 season. Holcy finished his junior season with 264 yards and one touchdown on 18 receptions.

Bowman Archibald - Archibald is known for being a physical presence on the line of scrimmage at tight end and can help boost a running game. Archibald is a tenacious blocker and may even grow into being an offensive tackle at the next level.

Chris Clark - Schools from all over the Southeast and Atlantic states have made Clark, who hails from Connecticut, a target at tight end. He already claims offers from Miami, Georgia, Ohio State, Virginia, Tennessee, Michigan, and North Carolina. Clark admits he is impressed with Miami’s tradition at tight end. The key for Miami will be trying to get him on campus at some point this offseason.

Bry’Keithon Mouton - If Miami is looking to add an H-back in the 2015 class, Mouton, who is from Louisiana, is definitely an option. Mouton totaled 395 yards and seven touchdowns on 21 receptions during his junior year. Mouton is an athletic option that could also line up at fullback. He also claims an offer from Alabama.

Other Names To Watch: The Hurricanes have also offered Tyrone Wheatley Jr., Hale Hentges, Jalen Wilkerson, Jackson Harris, and Kyle Penniston.

Final Thoughts: The real prize for Miami at tight end in the 2015 class is Devonaire Clarington. There is a very high level of interest on both sides at this point in the recruiting process. Now the UM coaching staff has to close and bring home one of the top talents in the area. Clarington can be the tight end of the future for the Hurricanes.

Clarington does not have a committable offer at te

Does UM want him at DE or wants him to camp first? Does he have a Bama offer?

UM thinks he is soft. They would probably want to see him at de before they pursue but I doubt it happens.

than why the **** didn't they go after Ravian Pierce? that dude was grimy as ****!

grades

****. Should still offer the dude, never know

Golden has stated that he wants Two TE's this class and from the offers going out it looks like they weren't bull****ting. TE class is about to be sick.

Clarington not having a commitable offer is understanding but dumb, with his size that is what a weight room and coaching is for, AG still has not learn from his mistakes, once this get links it will only cause more negative chatter toward the program, which we do not need any more. Clarington and mouton would be a deadly combo.

It's more than just thinking he is soft. People that have seen the kid play since he was in optimist say he isn't a natural pass catcher and will struggle with blocking as well. Also add in that he is two years older than every kid in his grade
