2001 team at the time would've made the NFL playoffs

According to Antrel Rolle on the U part 2

I believe it. Is there any other CFB team that could beat an NFL team? USC 2005?

Nah, that's unrealistic. Skill players are NFL caliber, but the grown men on NFL o-lines / d-lines would kill 19-20 year old college kids.

Maybe win 1 game

That whole team did not go pro. Any team they faced would have been 100% players that did go pro.

Not just that but NFL teams have players that are 2nd and 3rd string that were star/key players on their college teams.

100% this. But beyond that, even if you look at the lines on that team AS grown men, they weren't as good as the skill players on that team. Of the linemen who went pro, only Wilfork was genuinely awesome. McKinney was solid. Then there's a big dropoff to the others. It's not the steady succession of Pro Bowlers that there is at RB, TE, S, and LB.

If you grafted the skill players from that team onto some NFL-caliber lines, then sure.

Beat an NFL team in one game? If any team could, maybe that one. Although, the team with Vinnie that lost to PSU, might have a better chance. QB and Dline were more NFL ready -- but Oline would have had real trouble. But there is no way any to make the playoffs. However, you have to believe that whatever NFL team it was would certainly not want to get beat by a college team -- see what happen to Johnnie ex-football in his first start.

I thought Rolle meant that once they got in the NFL, if they were all on the same team they would have won a SB

They guys who played in the pros get together as a core group and surround themselves with other talent, maybe win a couple of games in the first year, then improve maybe. I guess.

But that whole team with the best 53 players playing an NFL schedule? Laughable to even suggest they win 1 game in the league. The skill players were good, and we had a few big fellas, but collectively, no.

Most longtime Canes fans still put the 86 team as the most talented pound for pound. It's close and with Testeverde as QB, it's hard to argue against, loss to PSU not withstanding.

Took it as rolle saying those players, once they got to the nfl, if they were teamed up, they'd make the playoffs.

Doubt Dorsey could have done it, but they would have won some games

The team that lost to PSU by suicide was better than the 2001 team. We simply had a more talented yet dumber Heisman QB that kept the team from winning it all.
