We beat Texas to make it to the first Final 4 in our history. It was honestly one of the best days in my sports life. I really thought that team could have won it all. Just 2 years later and we've hit absolute rock bottom in such a way I don't believe any of us could have imagined happening. These past 2 seasons have been so bad, it's disgusting. Things may be looking up soon, but it's just insane to think of where we were just 2 years ago on this date.

Honestly feels like 2 decades ago.

I still contend that if we played our A game against UConn we could’ve beat them.

I had hope for about half a second when we got a stop down 10 but Wong got picked on the fast break. That UConn team was a machine (their perimeter size was insane), but I think we were as good as anyone else out there.

I agree. I was very confident going into that uconn game. I live in CT so I hate Uconn and losing to them really really sucked! But that does feel like 2 decades ago. It's been a disaster ever since that game which is crazy because we've had some real talent on these past 2 teams.

Going to that game in Houston was one of the best sports experiences of my life. Even if we got thrashed. We were not going to beat UCONN that day. They were significantly better

My recollection of UM hoops that season was the ACC tourney game vs Duke (I think).
I remember looking forward to the 1st round NCAA tourney game which was the day after a "routine" procedure at the hospital to deal with blood clots.
The routine procedure went south on me leading to cardiac arrest, several strokes, being "coded"
for 40 minutes and eventually awakening a few days after the Canes beat the two Texas teams in tournament.
And I only knew about this because a couple of fellas working at ICU showed me their brackets
with one of them bragging about picking the Canes to make it to the final.
I did make it to a regular hospital room on time to watch the Canes play UConn.
It was interesting watching the game while a mouse was running around my room at Washington MedStar hospital.
It was a surreal March Madness for me.

we were never beating Uconn. But that tournament run was something else. Nobody gave us a chance against Houston and Texas.

Many had us being upset to Drake in the first round
AND we almost did lose to Drake in round 1!! We cruised past Indiana and Houston and held on vs Texas. I wanted a win vs Uconn more than I wanted my next breath. Ugh. Sucks living in CT the last 2 years.

OH WOW that's terrible! Sorry you had to go through all of that! Hope all is well now. Sorry you had to miss those Houston and Texas games. They were a lot of fun! The Uconn game? Not so Much!
