For Swag '16, the direction for UM recruiters now is all about finding all the hidden gems in our Florida backyard that have yet to be discovered, and jumping on them before the word of their high potential and promise hits the recruitment trail.

For the last handful of recruits, the rule of thumb has been to accept the commitment of these initially no-star prospects, with 2-3 stars appearing after the eventual commit to UM become public fodder. Even current 4* recruit Amir Rasul was an unranked & 0 star prospect in UM Gables' backyard whom UM recruiters jumped on at the earliest. Most importantly, the early love showered to the Asul family (and other like prospects) serves to solidify what initially appeared to be a split-second of the moment trigger decision; a decision that was clearly not at all rooted in the word commitment.

Don't be alarmed if the next commits aren't your universal 4-star or higher ranked prospects.

While a universally consensus 4*+ commit would provide a nice sudden flash to Swag '16 and absolutely create additional momentum, UM has actually been zeroing in on for a special type of gem: the player/gems that love and want to be at the []_[] . It's a keeper mentality, and that's not bad at all of a strategy. Many of the higher profile ballas who are currently undecided are also really looking feverishly around, so if such were to commit and then to later decommit, then it creates negative momentum away from Swag '16 that the staff would rather have avoided rather than having to deal with such negative pull. Sustain!

While it has been an almost conventional wisdom (of fans) that winning games on the playing fields during the upcoming 2015 campaign will make or break sustaining this great class, there is tremendous value within this Swag '16 class that, regardless of the W-L record of UM 2015 team, Swag '16 ballas want to be crowned as The class of this great tradition that is known as The []_[] who gets to earn the honor and privilege to bring back The []_[] to the zenith of her former glory to win her back National Championships. While this inherent value of this unique Swag '16 class may not be as palpable as what will be in the W-L column, this intangible value will serve as the ultimate glue that binds our Swag '16 to the end, even if or when the Ls start piling up, be that AG is still at the helm.

Finally, this is a very solid class with its most elite prospects -- irregardless of its now disputed but fleeting no. 1 class ranking -- sure to move up the rankings and end up with at least one or two five stars for the final class ranking. It is also clear that this class' former and current gem-players' Fall play-making ability will surely manifest and, consequently, rise up the charts of recognition and quality (that's the nature of gem, particularly at this early stage) to end up with additional 4-stars ballas.

In the meantime, UM recruiters have and are putting this early work of appreciation and love-provision to these gem prospects; work that johnny come lates [recruiters] can't duplicate. In return for the early recognition and UM love, these gems provide good press, are very grateful, and provide great vibe and chemistry to their earlier and higher ranked fellow-commits.

Wow, great class and hope it can be maintained, but you're dramatically underestimating the value of this season's W-L column. Golden needs to win in order to keep his job and sustain in-roads made on the recruiting trail. If the season goes to ****, not only is Golden on the streets but the same could be true of the assistant coaches who have developed relationships with the players and families. A new staff would obviously still have a chance to hold the class together - especially if key assistants are retained - though staffs will smell blood in the water and be all over these kids.

The key is to fire corch as early as possible. Bring in butch and this will be the best class in years. Dts and cb's will be begging for offers

LOL at believing any of these kids will stick. Wake up. MAYBE if we go 9-3.

You will be in for a pleasant surprise... Most of this class will stick... regardless.... The Linebackers are in... Shaq, Zach, Mike and Greg... Dionte Mullins is in.. there are a few more that are in...

The dream of "We bringin back the U" is undefeated and has lasting and perpetual value, particularly with NFL-U still coming to train at The []_[] .

My purpose here isn't to convince everyone that all the commits WILL stick no matter what.

BUT, What I see as overly simplified logic is this conventional wisdom or this rule of thumb that if Al Golden tanks the season -- and this is Al Golden -- then the class will automatically disintegrate. The "WE get to bring back the U" is not irrelevant; it's relevant and has value with Swag '16.

Randy's best recruiting class came after his worse season, and after the 48-0 drubbing at the hands of lowly UVA; he had the No. 1 in the nation. I can clearly recall how he brought in prospects and had them confront current players and telling these current players that they are "coming in to replace you", albeit the next year after that. For now, unlike never before, I have seen Golden blame or throw players under the bus even in this very time without any news of games played. Once the season starts, and if Golden & crew begin to tank the season, rest assured that he WILL be blaming players, and won't be shy telling recruits that they're coming to UM to get real playing time if not outright promise recruits. Golden has vowed never again to take blame for a horrid record when NFL-draftable are so available at UM; he'll toss them early and often if season's going down in flames.

As for Golden getting fired, I'm not gonna say that such firing won't ever affect player commitment adversely, but it does matter how it would all play out in terms what such adverse effect would be, if any. That is, whether UM staff moves in swiftly to hire a new staff or rather fires Golden then let him keep coaching for the remainder of the season. They have to hire quickly and they can't hang on to Golden to finish out the season while he'd remain this 100% lame duck.

I can tell you what will derail this class: If Golden tanks the season, and staffers keep giving this UM line that they are standing behind Golden, provided he will do step 1, 2, and or 3. I believe that the negativity from fans in reaction to such Golden continued support by UM will be so negative that recruits would find the campus and UM atmosphere too toxic not to openly consider football-playing options at other colleges...only then the class would derail off its track.

My ideal scenario is for Al Golden to win 9 games before the bowl season, Coach Franklin at PSU get fired at or hired away from PSU in 2015, then Golden applies and takes his dream PSU gig...then UM hires super quick that new coach. Ideal yes, but I won't hold my breath on that scenario.

While the best scenario is that a moderately successful season, 9-10 wins, you can't discount that Al Golden will be Al Golden. I'm just hopeful that UM brass would move decisively to rid itself of Golden, hire Butch or hopefully the next big sure thing (Can you expect UM to do it right on any sure thing in light of track record), and new Head man can retain some of the key staffers, just like Urban Meyer kept initially some key coaches when he took over OSU. Again, under no circumstances shall UM pull a UiF scenario and have Golden hang around if he's fired mid season or near the end of the season! They'd have to fire him a la Shannon, and hire quickly AND THEN they can still keep the class.

So answer me this. If these kids are all about our W/L record, why are they committing after a 6-7 season? Seems to me if our record was so important, they'd never have committed to us in the first place.

I think these kids want to come here and help turn things around. Don't get me wrong, if we win 6 games again, there will be decommits. I just don't think there will be boat loads of them leaving because of the record. Also, there are always decommits every year regardless.

Bringing in Lane Kiffin to replace Golden would instantly increase our win totals and bring an influx of big time recruits immediately and lock down SoFl for years to come!

What have you been watching the last four years? To seriously see you blame fans for the toxic atmosphere is too much to take. I supported Al until the end of 2013 when the team quit on him. If you put your money of pillars and things like it, you cannot have a team quit on you. Al clearly cannot coach worth a crap. That leaves motivation and desire. He lost the team and never got it back. Everything toxic about this is Al, Donna, and the BOT. The fans are not to blame. None of this is our fault, not any. Stop hiring losers, stop losing to lesser talented teams, stop getting out coached by EVERYONE and watch the nice fresh electric charged air return to CG.

And stopped with the psu thing. Al Golden will never get another decent D1 HC job unless he beats FSU and gets to AC title game. And that my friend is not going to happen. Stop pretending there is any scenario where Al wins. He coaching is horrible and his pride prevents him from accepting that fact so he will not change it. Eventually, he will get around to playing people like you who have given him false hope with their support. He will throw his own parents under the bus before he changes his "perfect 300 page binder".

In what?

In for the experience of their lifetime being molded into men.

There's way too much leadership in this Swag 16 class to think it will fall apart.

Don't forget Jack Allison.

I don't see Butch coming back. Throw a bunch of money at Gary Patterson, and I would be very happy.

Lol @ L's don't matter. Gtfoh with that cr@p. Every year, this is the class that wants to bring us back. Duke and Tracy was sold that until they **** on them last season. Get rid of the failure coach and you won't have to depend on high school players who have proven nothing. So let me guess Swag16. So we are talking like 2020? Who is still buying this bull?

That was Randy's first year in charge. He didn't have 4 years of failure as proof as his ineptitude. El Foldo does
