I'd bet most think this year will be better then last year because it is Fall and all are 0-0. For many it is delusional. One of my friends went to VT and thinks losing Trevon was not damaging and his team is young but gained experience last year. I hate doing it but I point out his teams weaknesses and he admits that we are in a much better place.

Based on the new coaching staff, the way they have filled weak areas from the portal plus a recruiting class that will prove to be one of our best our optimism here is justified. Last year we had the worse offensive and special teams ever at Miami and we lost games that with a tad better at special teams or a minor improvement in offensive could have easily won 3 or 4 more games. Heck a decent punter and we win 2 or 3 more and win the Coastal again.

Even in the LSU game we had more 1st downs more yardage but more penalties and 2 TO's that absolutely killed us. Not saying we win that game but the first half and the game was over, LSU only scored 6 points in the second half.

I know, I've always been a glass half full person but I am convinced our optimism is justified and the glass is closer to full then 1/2. Next week cannot get here fast enough because in 9 days we will be talking about how we just might go undefeated.
I fully expect that after Saturday we will say we are won 8 of the last 9. The gator is a rivalry that we take more serious, if we lose a game it will only be if we beat ourselves and it won't happen against the gator.

By the way, the gator has avoided us like the plague, also how do they keep avoiding Alabama? They've lost their last 6 to the Tide and their last regular season game was way back in 2014???? Remember too that they avoided us in baseball a while back too. They are more like those tiny Caiman then ferocious alligators.

But to your point, I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, too. Florida may turn out to be our toughest opponent all year. We can and must rise to the occasion. That said, I'm not going to sweat it if we struggle unless I see bad coaching like we saw with Golden in his first game vs. Maryland. I'm trusting Eons and Diaz will get this team back in the perennial Natty hunt.

Va Tech lost a ton of players in the off season. Your friend has no reason to be optimistic. Willis is pedestrian at best. Their best QB is in College Park, MD with Enos' old boss.
We did everything right, except Kennedy, in the off season. We are set for a 10+ win season. Only uncontrollable injuries can derail us.

"On paper"... we should be 8-4, 9-3. That's only because we haven't shown #TNM. We will win 10+.
