#10 - Post PractiSe Interviews

Confidence across the board and not the fake rah-rah sound-byte bullsh!t either. It's a matter of factness they carry themselves with(although admittedly a small sample size and they haven't been punched in the mouth yet). The coaches seem to have it and the players. Rumph is brimming with it. He knows he can coach, he knows he can push this group and get the response he wants and we need. I think he's going to continue to grow as a coach and he'll become a much better recruiter as his confidence in his coaching acumen spills into his pitch and kids will respond by signing. This team seems to have grown leaps and bounds in a short time. No more f'ing around. They really seem to love playing for each other. 8/24 is a good test right off the bat.

Go Canes!

What Rumph alluded to is what we in the software development world call "Agile." We want to fail fast so we can apply what we learned quickly to the next iteration. We don't want to find out down the road that there is a bug in the software after it's been released to the public. Make it fail now before we go to production so we can fix it. This is great for the team in so many ways. It puts the players in an uncomfortable situation that they can learn from quickly and apply it to the game. It's also preparing them for half time adjustments. Being able to have the coach tell you the changes he wants the players to make, then go out an execute exactly what he wants.

Manny is bringing it next level. Love it!!!!!

Thats a dope explanation and exactly what we need as a team!

When most of yall were ****ing your pants worried all offseason about the CB group, I can remember someone telling yall the reason why we didn't go after a transfer is because Al Jr, Ivey & the rest were going to shock you with how much they improved...

It wasn't speculation.

I was probably one of those complainers. I have confidence in the starting 3. My issue was/is that Bethel is still not ready. I am sticking by my projection that Couch will be #4 by end of September, and a **** good one now that he's got some S&C under his belt and meat on those bones.

Williams is still a question mark to me for 2019, no doubt he and Bethel will be ready come 2020. This year, IMHO, we're still too thin to be championship level. What happens if one or two guys get injured?

Lots to like about these interviews. Rumph may not be the best recruiter. But he sure seems like a solid position coach and developer. ... Ford taking the next step is going to be fun to watch. Hightower gets overshadowed a lot by JT et al. But there's a lot of Hank in that kid, with more consistent hands. I think he's going to have a great year for us.

Great interview from Rumph, loved to hear Blades stepping up big. Only thing i disagree with is playing Bandy on ST. He's the most valuable piece on the defense. I can respect the don't play/coach scared attitude though.

Don’t count out Bethel. Yes, the freshman are seriously talented but Bethel has looked good according to some reports. Rumph has developed a veritable stable of real athletes who play corner.

He was on the highlight tapes during the Spring going against the WRs. And not in a good way. ... Bethel's got raw talent, but he's not been playing corner since he was in diapers like Bandy, Blades and Couch. CBs at this level need the reps to be able to anticipate better.

Look at Dean, he wasn't good until 1.5 years under Rumph. It's going to take Bethel at least that long to get there, which means he'll start having an impact halfway through the season or 2020. ... I'd be happy to be wrong, I'm just saying we shouldn't count on him or Williams this year. Which is why I am worried about depth.

The CB group is going to ball, they'll be locking sh*t down as the season progresses.

Bethel is still learning & coming along, once he puts it all together he'll be serviceable. His impact will mainly be on ST's this year. It's just going to take some time.

But the upside of Al Jr, Ivey, Christian Wiliams & Couch is going to be very good once they all gel & get complete fusion with each other in this scheme & the rest of the Defense.

all they need is just a bit of a pass rush, and this also plays into it -- an offense that can create big leads for them, so they can pin their ears back and come downhill on people

It can be spelled either way, in the United States we spell it practice while in England they spell it practise

actually no. they have 2 different meanings. with a S means physically. when it's with a C it means learning an ideal.

so technically both spellings are correct bc we are practicing the schemes (ideas) of the offense/defense, and practising football (physical)
