“Rumph Saw the Sports Psychologist at Miami....

People here hate him a lot and yes we missed on a lot of elite kids we shouldn't miss on all of them. But I really hope he improves and becomes a complete coach. He's a Cane and our CB played really good even without all the elite talent we missed out on
See? This confuses me. If he is good at coaching, then kids would just want to line up to be coached by him. But somehow, it all comes down to his recruiting ability. Al Golden could recruit, but couldn’t develop kids, and they stayed away. I hope someone can splain to me if it’s the egg or the chicken...I mean, really.

All that because the American Heritage Flakes didn't want to come here LMAO
Nah, he just really didn't know how to recruit.

He's learned what to do going into year 4 & he's going to get better at it, its just taken quite some time learn the sweet science of CB recruiting.

He's a great technician & now hopefully he's learned the ropes & will become one of the great CB crootin artisans of the game.

...or they just really didnt want to come here.
They weren't the only ones... And idk if you've read any of the recent articles on Rumph over the last 2 days, he's confirmed himself that he wasn't recruiting up to standard. I get you guys always think you have to wear armor for the coaches, but they're big boys & get paid nice salaries, they can handle it.

I think he's turned it around figured out how to take the right shots & will be better for it. He's doing a great job on the trail & I think he'll land a lot more blue chippers in the future classes.

Most folks don't know how ruthless and cutthroat SFL recruiting is, it's an absolute cesspool. I liken it to swimming in shark-infested waters. Some of these kids absolutely use UM offers to leverage bags. Rumph is actually a very good coach. He's done a great job with the kids he coached. Talent Aquisition has been his challenge. He's been left at the alter a few times on signing day. Never recruit 2 kids for 2 spots, recruit 5 kids for 2 spots.

I think you're not wrong but here's the thing. These recruits are kids. Some of them want to win, some of them want to play for a certain coach, some of them get paid, some of them have the decision made by their parents.

That our CB played well is obvious. I mean look at the tape and the stats. They are not bamas CB, but they played good! Especially considering we did not have a 5Star CB on our team. These kids don't sit there and watch tape of all teams they are interested in... They want to see rings, do you get me into the NFL, how much do I get paid. I think being a good to great recruiter is so crucial in CFB nowadays. Kids are more entitled than ever and get recruited earlier and more than ever... You need to outrecruit, no matter how good your on-field product is. Saban doesn't fly in, in a helicopter for nothing

Liberty - I would starve if I was a salesman.

However, on rare occasions when I saw something I really knew for a fact was unbeatable - it wasn't selling - it was a process of sharing an absolute conviction.

The day he really knows bone deep what he's selling - he won't be selling - he'll be harvesting.

If you don't fully buy into your product yourself - you can't sell it. You are all in - it's not selling, it's not projecting - it's simply bringing in another believer.

Can't be mad at a cat, an alum and 1st round pick at that, who sees a weakness in HIMSELF and looks to make changes. True humility, resilience, and determination.

Props to him and hope he continues to develop recruiting into a personal strength. :salute:

It has to be hard to bury the ego when you've played at a high level like he has. Hopefully he's learned it's just part of the job description. He's also building a college resume as his players go to the NFL. Having Diaz as the head coach will help.
I could not do it.. *** kissing..🤦🏽‍♂️💯

I think he made a similar statement his first year when he got left at the alter. If I remember correctly his statement then was he didn't meet the standard. We'll see what happens

It’s “The Orange Bowl Boys”, as in dudes who grew up in the OB. Best Canes podcast there is and it’s not close, no disrespect to CIS pod, which is second and there is no third, but the two pods do different things.

Solid joke either way, but if you haven’t checked out OBB yet, do yourself a favor and tune in.
Agreed

I wonder what goes on behind the scenes in terms of process an training. Do these guys generally just wing it and the good recruiters are naturally good at it? My guess would be that happens a lot of places but programs like bama probably use big company resources around sales process and training. My guess is that Manny embraces that kind of science.
With the money and stakes involved in CFB, I can’t imagine they don’t give coaches trainjng.

Al golden had the same recruiting problems... everybody committed, then went elsewhere.

If I had any faults I’d do the same. Congratulations to Rumph for realizing how terrible he was despite all the mongoloids on here making excuses for him.

P. S. If Rumph is going to the shrink once a week Banda should go twice. There it is. Can’t discuss Rumph’s struggle without shredding Banda. It’s a cis rule.
