Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

My advice is to find another hobby this fall. Consider pornography.

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

7% at minimum. Probably more like 70%. Hide your kids hide your wife.

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

99% of ADs apparently have very wishful thinking. The ones who think there will be an abbreviated schedule or conference only schedule make less sense. August won't happen but October/November will? Right when C19 Part Deux comes out? 👌 Nothing will magically happen in the next year to allow...

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

I think no vaccine is very possible...or at least no vaccine for years.

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

As I've been seeing it, the goal seems to be to not unlock the country until we have no more people getting sick from C19.

    And so it begins... https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/14/us/university-may-cancel-classes-fall-2021-trnd/index.html

    The whole team gets quarantined?

The goal posts have shifted, in case you hadn't noticed.

Sure they can do that. And when the asymptomatic positive tests come in, then what?

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

We know there will be no vaccine approved for human use by August. Again, the optics will be unpaid, predominantly poor African American student athletes being expected to play football to generate billions in revenue while there is a pandemic circling the globe. There is nothing that will...

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

You could have said the same for NBA, NHL and MLB before they shut it down.

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

It's not about "safe enough." College athletes are at almost zero risk of getting a serious case of C19*. It's about the optics. *maybe Navaughn Donaldson being the exception

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

I'm interested in how you think this is feasible. What happens when you have the first player or coach or support staff member test positive?

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

Within the next 2 months a lot of life is going to open back up, in large part because it can't go on this way. But when it comes to sports played in stadiums and arenas? I don't see that happening until there is a vaccine, which could be as soon as next January. But CFB this year is a pipe...

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

I think your point of view is completely reasonable. However, it's about the optics, not the actual risk.

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

Having fans at the games is too risky, but expecting unpaid, poor African American teenagers to play the games is fine. You see how that comes off?

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

I think the NFL has a better shot at playing than CFB. The optics of unpaid, mostly poor, African American teenagers being expected to play football in the midst of a pandemic is terrible. Note: I'm not saying them actually playing in the fall is that risky, or any more risky than the risk of...

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

What they'll do is balance the money they would lose by cancelling the season against the money they would lose by getting potentially hundreds of wrongful death suits (can you say class action?), and I think they will cancel.

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

And like I've also said, as soon as they start talking about running games with no fans, it's over. You still need refs, you still need coaches, you still need players etc. Think of the liability the first time a coach or ref with diabetes catches the Covid and dies and it's linked to...

Schefter: CFB is going to happen this season

I don't agree. The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced baseball in '21 will be the return of sports. Way too much liability to start packing people into 100K seat stadiums.
