This morning’s Needs Report is a little better still. It now says we can lose a combination of any two games vs either one home game or two road games to finish in the top 16.

He caveats that there’s a lot of room for movement, but it’s proven a decent rough guide over the years. It feels like 10-1 leaves you in a good spot to host and 9-2 puts you in a spot to host with some yet unknown good wins in the ACC tournament. That doesn’t leave much margin for Rosario to...

Matches up fairly well with Boyd’s top 32 thresholds, and not really surprising when you have 8 potential bad losses and 3 potential good wins.

It doesn’t look like it’s updated since Friday, but Boyd’s RPI needs report indicates we can only lose one more game to finish in the top 16 (factoring in the one we lost Friday). It gives no path to a top 8 RPI finish. That would seemingly require a great ACC Tournament run. Our remaining...

The other results of the day helped us jump BC and move to 13th in the RPI

Very much so. If we lost to them right now, I’d guess we’d drop to about 21st. I’d don’t see him dropping Rosario until/if Ligon gets back or we’ve found another starter. Best case is you go for a 70-80 pitch start with Leq, and Rosario gets treated like he’s throwing the quick hook bullpen...

Even if he feels fine there’s no way you should start Ligon next week, so start either Leq or Scinta and see how it goes. Can’t imagine it’ll be worse than Rosario, so you can dump him when (knocks wood) Ligon comes back.

Louisville needs to go 6-3 to finish .500 in the ACC. They have 3 at Clemson, 3 at UVA, and 3 home against FSU. Do they make it? I lean yes because of how bad FSU is.

Modest improvement. Pitt likely doesn’t do much for you even on the road because their overall record is so bad. Duke would be a solid boost. The next 8 games until Duke are really don’t step on the RPI landmine.

Louisville actually has to come here next year unless they change the scheduling formula. We’ve been there four times since they joined the ACC to one trip here.

Normally I’d say 4 more wins to host (providing no nonconference screwups) but even on the road any loss to Pitt looks like RPI poison.
