I tend to assume RPI wins the day until it doesn’t, but it’s hard to get a read with the mess that it is this year.

BA also has us a Top 8 with an absolutely brutal regional. They also send FSU to Gainesville. I don’t buy 4 ACC Top 8 teams. Not sure I buy 3. Coral Gables, Fla. Stillwater, Okla. 1. (6) Miami^ 🔼 1. (11) Oklahoma State^ 🔼 2. Oklahoma* 2. Arkansas 3. Connecticut* 3. Dallas Baptist...

They have Florida and Florida State in a regional with Oklahoma https://d1baseball.com/postseason/2022-field-of-64-projections-final-edition/

Basically, how do you reach down in the RPI and get an A&M based on a strong SEC record, and not do it for us in the ACC? Fitt and Etheridge though their stronger finish mitigated that concern.

Final D1 projection with be (7) Miami (8) North Carolina (9) East Carolina. Those were the three they agonized over for Top 8 on their live Nerdcast. Rogers made the point I’ve been thinking about making A&M a Top 8 and not us.

The thought crossed my mind last night. I don’t think they’ll do it, but the committee has done some insane things over the years that can only be explained by following the RPI. It’s possible all the chaos causes them to stick closer to the RPI than ever in a year they should ignore it.

BA thinks North Carolina will be the #5 overall seed. They have Notre Dame at #12.

BA still has us at 9. They also have Florida hosting although only BA sends FSU there. They send us Oklahoma, Oregon, and Hofstra.

It’s definitely the neutral site thing. D1 is counting them as neutral site games while Warren Nolan considers them home games. It’s the difference between being in front of or behind us. I think they should be home games, but I’m not sure the NCAA would agree.

Could be that they’re not as “live” as Warren Nolan. It took them quite a while to update the ND loss. It’s also possible they’re handling Southern Miss home/neutral differently with a conference tourney in their ballpark.

Even if it didn’t benefit us, the sheer chaos sounds entertaining.

I’m thinking no. K State doesn’t move the needle much. Even if I give them 30 pts for OSU or Texas, that’s 22nd in the RPI.

BA has us at 9 paired with College Park. They make a good point about Maryland being vulnerable with a loss to Indiana. I would have a hard time justifying them over Southern Miss if they win the CUSA tournament in that scenario. The other teams in our regional are Florida, old friends Rutgers...

If they beat Texas twice today (they’re well on their way to the first) and presumably Oklahoma tomorrow, they should be Top 6 or 7 in the RPI with a 20-10 aggregate Big 12 record and 15-14 Q1. Feels like a pretty good case to me.
