    2020 Roster Discussion

NCAA.com has posted D1Baseball’s fall report without the paywall, although I think @TheRichtShow covered pretty much everything notable in the summary https://www.ncaa.com/news/baseball/article/2020-01-04/miami-hurricanes-baseball-loaded-talent-headed-2020-season

Another freshman appears to be gone. Jason Diaz no longer appears on the roster, leaving us with just eight remaining freshman. I have no difficulty believing this departure is performance related. Diaz had an awful fall.

It’s usually done right after fall practice. With the three earlier departures we’re already down to 33, so any further exits would likely be voluntary.

We should certainly have some scholarship money for a couple JUCOs. I imagine Eskew and Hall each had a decent scholarship chunk.

    2020 Roster Discussion

Really no idea on Eskew or Hall. The middle of fall practice is an odd time to decide to transfer to a JUCO, especially with Eskew turning down money a few months ago and Hall working his way back from an injury. I haven’t gotten to see McFarlane pitch yet, but I heard really good things about...

Eskew, Hall, and Bradbury aren’t on the roster they distributed during the game today, and they have been removed from the online roster. That leaves us with the usual 33 players. Obviously losing Eskew and Hall would be a big blow especially for 2021 and beyond.

They have them in the bio for the returning players. They were likely in a hurry to get the roster up and/or waiting to see which of the new players actually make the team before putting in the effort.

The rest of the roster has been updated. Looks like the injury will keep Austin Thomas off the roster. Surprise JUCO: LHP Spencer Bodanza of Hillsborough CC 36 players total: 22 returning, 12 freshmen, 2 JUCO

The returning portion of the fall roster (plus Valdes for some reason) is up. Besides Escala and Mantilla, the returning players not listed are Cook, Sparber, Cloonan, and Rivero. https://hurricanesports.com/roster.aspx?roster=1403&path=baseball If all the freshman and Lauck are added, that...

The Woodstock River Bandits have Escala listed as playing for Barry, so it appears that is where he transferred.

Looks like Lauck played mostly SS his first year before moving to 3B from the end of that season on. He had a Zamora-like 18 errors both seasons.

Looking at his very limited Perfect Game page, it listed him as an OF. Could also see him compete there if that was his HS position. Seems like a good depth pickup with a guy that can play multiple positions if nothing else.
