OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

No, thus "seismic". And, while there was a pandemic, his entire career there was 2 games.

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

Going back to the original post, it is a moot point as Maker's commitment created a "seismic" change in high profile recruits choosing HBCUs. Certainly seen a ton of such decisions in the year since..... "Seismic".

Just an update to an interesting thread from a while back. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31528054/sources-howard-star-freshman-makur-maker-entering-nba-draft

Asked, still waiting. An opinion piece, a non-binding "commitment", and a vague current intention relative to what a kid might do in a couple years. Add "evidence" to the list of definitions you can work on as you enjoy that beer.

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

Man, I tried, but you just won't quit. So let's do this using what you just provided: Seismic - having strong or widespread impact....social changes. As in, that 5 stars‘ choice to attend an HBCU will have widespread and lasting impact on the basketball recruiting landscape, in the future...

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

    1. I agreed with your initial post. Please re-read. 2. I did not reference you. I specifically referenced the original post. Please re-read. So, please re-read. The answer to both questions I posed was "no". I did not realize that was a mystery.

Still waiting for that evidence. It makes sense that you are the self-proclaimed "svengali". If you don't know the definition, that basically means you try to mesmerize/bull**** people. Seems on point here.

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

    1. Is there any logical argument against what you just said? 2. This thread began when one poster cited one non binding "decision" as a "seismic" shift. Is there any other evidence to support that enormous change? The answer to both questions in the same.

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

Interesting. Do you think it would hurt a players perception/evaluation to be in the Ivy League? That never occurred to me. I know people refer to strength of schedule and opposition, but do you think that league is perceived as so inferior that it would really be a negative when it comes to...

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

Again, I do not think that word means what you think it means. If that is your very best evidence of "seismic" change, then you have no evidence. You just have one kid's current choice and hope. But we shall see what the future holds.

OT - 5 star basketball recruit chooses Howard (HBCU) over UCLA

I've actually been waiting for Harvard to pull a 5 star kid. Seems like Amaker has been knocking on the doors for a few years now and he picked up 4 stars in 2018 and 2019, maybe others, but I can't remember. Also Stanford pulled a 5 star last year but they don't play by the same rules as Ivy...

I do not think that words means what you think it means, but thanks for your permission to engage in independent thought. You must be very important to grant such opportunity.

"Seismic" seems extreme. He is doing this, according to him, to elevate HBCU programs. I am not sure a significant number of other and future prospects will have the same priority, though some may. Additionally Howard is not equivalent to many other HBCUs; it offers advantages most others...
