We recruit ok thanks to our past. This will not last. And they probably develop their players better than we do

College sports is about access to resources and creating advantages. You can't recruit without things to offer. Wake up lol. It's why Richt donated 1M to the IPF, never shuts up about the weather and places so much importance on former players remaining active and around the program. That's the...

The only reason kids still commit to play here is because of our past, and this will get worse before it gets better if we don't begin offering the same advantages as everyone else. While our rivals are using sabermetrics, indoor/covered batting cages to compensate for weather and computerized...

I'm just passing along what I heard, and why I think it should make you angry. Your refusal to acknowledge that we're way behind everyone else isn't my problem.

The handful of guys (mainly Collins, Abreu, Lopez) who accounted for most of the production were clearly better than kids like James Davison and Michael Burns. So yes, better recruiting yields better results. But it just so happens that the only kids who left here better than when they arrived...

You're making an assumption to imply that anyone thinks the glaring problem isn't Morris being 10 years past his prime and bunting us out of the national picture. But it certainly wouldn't hurt to be on level ground with everyone else when it comes to resources. We were the last Power 5 school...

The talent was obviously there for some of our local kids like Collins and Abreu, both of whom had a private coach so they could use modern technology and have a shot at getting drafted (so I was told). But once they got to the CWS, they along with everyone else struck out looking. Others like...

Our recent "good hitters" mostly sought outside help so they could un-learn what's being taught at Miami. When the lightning alarm goes off, practice is over and you're on your own if you want to practice hitting because you can't use our outdoor batting cages and we have no modern resources...

I guess the months leading up to the season don't matter. And when we have good hitters "Collins, Abreu, Lopez" it's because they're seeking outside help. ****** recruiting is not the only problem, I assure you.

From what I've been told they're on their own and have to seek private help regardless of the weather since Miami refuses to employ the new technology.

Fair enough. My fault for not being clear. Obviously other teams are using batting cages in addition to modern technology. Turtle Thomas showed me how to hit in those cages in the late 80s and that's still the only resource we use to teach players how to hit. I think/hope it's a Morris thing...

Read this: Miami needs to put a roof over those cages with how much it rains down here. Virtually every other D1 program in the country has indoor/roofed cages. They also all have "computers" like Trackman and HitTrax that quantify EV/LA for hitters and spin rate/velo for pitchers. I agree...

The info I have received is that Morris never got with the times and failed to employ analytics and technology. It's why we still use those outdoor cages behind the RF bleachers while everyone else is using computers. No telling if Gino will stay old school or move into the 21st century.
