MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

If FSU and Clemson go to SEC, Miami will end up in B1G. No doubt. The question would be “when”. And as someone mentioned earlier, there will be no rush to add teams after this inital wave happens. If ESPN allows ACC to stay on the ventilator by still opting into extension once the first 2...

Bubba got some ‘splaining to do to his BOT. This probably shines light on the UNC BOT as to whether they desperately wanted to keep status quo (definitely doesn’t sound that way) Wouldn’t surprise me if UNC is working behind the scenes in the same manner that Clemson was before they just filed...

From what I have read in the last few pages is this… FSU and Clemson will likely bounce once these proceedings start to take off (discovery/venue rulings should tip everyone off as to how that will play out). That said, ACC definitely sees itself as a conference long term, and they appear to...

I figured ACC and Big12 would fold against P2 bluff. They rather eat at the kids table than not eat at all.

Gotta think D-day is when judge rules on venue and discovery requests. If it goes FSU’s way, the ACC (at the request of ESPN) would be smart to quickly cut bait with teams that have a place to go now and work to salvage a reimagined ACC/G5 conference - ESPN can make them the highest paid G5...

Just my .02… but I think this nuclear option thats being discussed is really a threat by P2 conferences to get what they want and if they do, they won’t break away, just as long as the P2 get the lions share of the money and the only 2 seats at the grown folks table. ACC, Big12 and the G5 will...

In hindsight, we should have seen USC and UCLA going to Big 10. I don’t think we anticipated the market drying up for the other 3 conference media rights so quickly (ACC, Big 12 and Pac 10). If nothing else, I think you have to give kudos for USC/UCLA working with the networks to help facilitate...

Networks will have certain say such as 1. Who plays who in the marquee TV timeslots 2. Hellping the conferences fill out their roster of teams from teams not currently associated with the P2. 3. Maybe subtlely help when it comes to actual conference distribution rates. Right now shares are...

okay. the networks are going to hold a fantasy draft, gotcha.

The B1G is not going to kick out OG B1G members for the likes of Utah, Vtech and West Virginia, lmao… both B1G and SEC are going to operate independantly of each other but collab on the postseason tourney. So I doubt B1G would be able to get Texsa, A&M as part of some fantasy draft. If the B1G...

This is a game of chicken - there is a big pot of money in the middle and the P2 has put ACC/Big12 to a decision… Call P2 bluff and hope they aren’t drawing dead against P2 winning hand (breakaway from the NCAA) or fold and let P2 take the pot and cripple them in significantly. Going to go...

Reread my post. I said that is something Miami fans should be hoping for, not that the smoke was real or not.

This just my .02 Miami is absolutely in a breakaway P2 secession from the NCAA. But while that option is certainly being discussed, I think deep down the P2 aren’t ready for that yet. They rather set up a kids table for ACC/Big12. That allows P2 to cap at 20 teams, work the media rights for...

They had to offer significant concessions before the money made sense. Then they got an invite. I don’t see how we would get a full share off the bat if we don’t at least bring the B1G carriage fees.

yikers indeed. Our forever rivals will be updated to be Virginia Tech, SMU and Duke, lol

this has been my fear as well. I have felt we absolutely needed to go in at same time as FSU (carriage rights) or ND (rivalry). But if both of those go without us, what is the incentive for the B1G to add us later on? Even with any new media rights talks, why would they bring in another school...

I agree there is no definite ironclad plan. Things are fluid. But don’t see them going to 2 conferences of 20 teams each and breaking away from NCAA anytime in the next 10-15 years, provided they are able to get what they believe is a fair amount of guaranteed playoff spots, which they should get.

SEC already has Florida. So Miami is a luxury for them in the sense of do they want that extra big screen tv for the patio. B1G needs at least 1 of FSU and Miami to trigger extra money from the B1G media contract, but it doesn’t need both. If both go at same time, great. But there will be no...
