2002 is overrated. I’d rank 2002 behind 2000 and all of the 86-88 teams. Possibly behind 89-91 as well.

Miami outgained PSU by something like a 3 to 1 margin in 1986. A Bill Connely analysis would probably show that Miami would have won 95% or more of the time. And Oklahoma, who Miami beat by 12 points in 1986, was a much better team than anybody who the 1991 team beat.

1990 Miami was the best team in the country. But that was in part because there weren't any good teams that year. Whoever finished #1 in 1990 was going to be one of the worst national champions ever.

The 1991 PSU team lost by double digits to a 3-8 Southern Cal team. 1986 PSU was nothing special, and had no business beating Miami, but they were actually undefeated.

1986 and 1988 were definitely both better than 1991. It isn't even close. I'd even favor the 86 and 88 teams over the 87 team, even though the 87 team was the only team in that span that won a national title.

2001 Miami would easily beat 1991 Miami. I could see more of an argument for the 1986-1988 teams being competitive with the 2001 team than the 1991 team. And I think the 2001 team would go 3-0 against the 1986-1988 teams, with probably no more than one of those games being that competitive.

I tend to think that 01 Miami would beat 95 Nebraska about 13 out of 20 games. With that being said, why are people acting like a simulated video game is seriously meaningful? Especially since there only seems to be one simulation.

They beat UF 62-24. They won their games by an average of 38.6 points. Their closest win was by 14 points (oddly at home over a bad 3-8 WSU team) and their second closest was by 23. They beat teams that finished in the top 10 by 23, 24, 38 and 38 points. The Florida team they beat was 12-0...

That was the 1994 Nebraska team that barely beat Miami. The 1994 Nebraska team was far from as good as the 1995 team.
