Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

Yup. We need to recruit better, but the single best thing we can do is develop the talent we already have better. We’ve got 10 wins worth of talent, they just need development and focus. provide that and the wins will come, followed by more talent.

Not knocking the current staff, but we have a way of making every team scrappy.

Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

I think there’s a better than average chance we lose to somebody who’s not Clemson or a&m. Obviously we’re better than everybody else, but I feel it’s a big ask to not stumble against at least one scrappy team. Hope I’m wrong about that.

That’s kind of my point. Yes we should win 10+ games on paper, but there’s a reason you actually play. And saying X wins is the floor ignores what you said about success not being strictly about wins. I just think there’s a scenario where we only win 8, but we’re seeing improvement on the field...

Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

I think 2-3 years is right. Thing is, it’s going to be real annoying getting through that 1-2 year period where everybody expects greatness right now. Then again, the last 20 years have been real annoying so it shouldn’t be that bad. Buckle up.

Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

That’s not at all what I said. I’m saying it’s not so surprising that Pitt is defending champ when you look at how well they use the talent they have. Saying even Pitt can win it isn’t quite the knock you think it is. I’m just saying don’t take it for granted that we win the coastal. We do...

Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

6 wins is our floor. You're already setting expectations such that a reasonable year will seem a failure. The truth is that if a coach can do better in his first year than the previous year, that's a win. Sure, Mario is a wizard and all that, but there's still a culture of laziness and...

Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

Pitt has had better coaching and been more sound than us for some time. Unlike Miami, Pitt does more with less.

I can’t fault your logic here, but coaching transitions are often harder than people think. It’s been a lot of years since this team was at all reliable, and that won’t go away year one. I think we’re looking at a 1998-99 type situation. We’ll start to see a great team emerging, but we’re still...

Do not try to tell me that Miami is a rebuild...

What I'm saying is these posts that set expectations always lead to later posts with higher expectations. That's not your fault, but it is a fact. There's somebody in here right now who's thinking they need to push this a little more so they can be more of a hero than you if things go well...

Yeeaaaahh...but that's what CiS specializes in. Posts like this that progressively raise the bar until any reasonable season result is a failure. By August it'll be all about how we have no reason not to make the playoff.
