I was a Soph at UM when FAU opened it's doors as an academic institution. That had to be for the Fall term of 1964. Think LBJ, on a campaign trip through Florida at the time, cut the ribbon or whatever they do to open a college.

Saw a tweet that of the starters on Elite Eight teams, 19 of the total of 40 are transfers. Tells you alot about how top teams are built in 2023. We've got two homegrown players and three xsfers.

FAU Is a grear example of why all the hand-wringing over Tourney seed was/is such a crock. UNC, an 8 seed last year, just another example.

After the UConn beat down of the Zags, talk has gone from "anyone can win this Tourney" to "just give the Huskies the NC now." If they do win, what will this be, 4 or 5 men's championships for them?

Glad to see that FAU's Center Golden not intimidated by Plavsik. Despite all the shoulder shivers and other dirty play directed at him all night.

Thoughts on Rick Barnes' style of play, aka Thugball? He coached that same way when he was in the ACC at Clemson. He basically teaches "foul all the time because the refs can't/won't call them all." IMO, it's an ugly style of basketball -- elbows, arm bars, grabbing, etc. -- that doesn't make...

At least half of that Duke rotation is headed for the NBA I'd guess. Filipowski, Roach, Lively and maybe Proctor. Lively, even though he has no offensive game, might go the highest.

I know Bama pulled their starters early but Miller, the "best player in the nation," goes scoreless (0-5) in 19 minutes of action??

Yeah, Kevin Obanor was the real key to their success a couple yrs ago -- more so than Abmas.

Good points. There's a lot to be said for "playing with house money," like Furman and Princeton did. The favorite is almost always gonna start coming unglued as a tight game winds down.
