As always, regardless of HC and OC, they will settle on the QB that they feel will make the fewest "mistakes." HCs and OCs are rarely "risk takers," what with their jobs/reputations on the line.

Being an "athlete" is nice but, can he throw a ball with some zip on it, coupled with accuracy and, when needed, touch. He didn't show enough of all that in the Spring. Not to mention, ability to read defenses and make good decisions. Hopefully, the practices this Summer will tell a different story.

I'm like Manny, taking a wait and see approach. Personally, I thought Martell would come in and strongly claim the #1 spot this Spring. That didn't happen; not by a long shot. August will tell!

Rev, I sure hope you are right in pegging Tate as being in the Top 15-25. Given his performance this Spring, I think he'll need significant improvement to make it that high.

That's not "running from competition." If true, that's the coaching staff telling you that your skills are not good enough, and hence you won't even be given the chance to compete for the job.
