Maryland was fed up (as we all are at times) with the North Carolina-centric power center of the ACC. Plus, their AD was in the red and the B1G made them a financial offer they couldn't refuse. Terps fans were upset at losing their long-time rivals in the ACC but money talked.

Exactly. I went to an OB Classic some years ago and it was very poorly attended. Mainly because of the weak field. An all-Florida tourney would be much more attractive.

OB Classic should feature UM, UF, FSU and another team from Florida like UCF or USF. Every year.

We're the #3 seed in the eight team field. UF is #1 and Xavier #2. It's actually a pretty solid group of teams. Even the bottom seed, Towson, is a dangerous (especially early in the season), senior-laden team.

As others have told you, it's ACC-mandated. All about kicking off the new ACC TV Network. Also, with 20 conference games this season (and from now on), two fewer patsies on the schedule.

If this is the season where the ACC goes to 20 Conference games (up from this season's 18), there will be fewer cupcakes on everyone's schedule.
