Canes Hoops (men and women) have an overseas trip to Italy in August 2019. (Great for recruiting)

Think its Madonn' (from Madonna, mother of Jesus)! To express surprise and shock in Italian slang usage. Not Marone, whatever that would mean.

I think they are "cowed." Leads to them asking only softball questions and not following up strongly, if at all. So, yes, I guess you could say they are retaliating against themselves (through being uncomfortable writing anything that would irk anyone they cover), the profession of journalism...

Canes Hoops (men and women) have an overseas trip to Italy in August 2019. (Great for recruiting)

When I say "reprisals," I obviously mean self-imposed ones. Reporters not wanting to anger a coach or AD, who they depend on for their already weak "stories." It takes some stones to ask "How come Hernandez is sitting when Player X and Y (in the same "boat" as Dewan) are playing for their...

Amherst, you wrote this about me above: "Hotshot asked a question about press coverage... and even intimated possible wrongdoing by the staff... I mean, really?" Total bull****. What I said was why can't The Miami Herald beat reporters ask the same simple questions of the staff that we all have...

If Brooks played this season, based on past history, I would be shocked if he didn't surpass Miller and claim the starting 5 job in the first practice.

Canes Hoops (men and women) have an overseas trip to Italy in August 2019. (Great for recruiting)

Amherst, the long-running questions last season about Dewan Hernandez' status, the more recent question about Nysier Brooks, and others --- I find myself wondering WHY The Herald beat writers/columnists didn't/don't ask these questions of Coach? Are common sense questions that any fan wants an...

Canes Hoops (men and women) have an overseas trip to Italy in August 2019. (Great for recruiting)

Lucky, what exactly IS the argument for sitting Nysier this season (other than he is ineligible without a waiver)? That we have too many bigs?

Rodney produced some good numbers on this trip, by any standard. Credit where credit is due (again, with no knowlege of who he was up against). On the other hand, Beverly didn't put up the numbers I expected. Maybe he was hurt? I expect double figures from him this season (maybe even becoming a...

Canes Hoops (men and women) have an overseas trip to Italy in August 2019. (Great for recruiting)

Given that he is playing on this exhibition trip, can't see a reason not to request a waiver to allow him to play in 2019-20. Only thing I can think of is maybe his academics aren't where they need to be. What else is there?

What were the Cincinnati issues that caused him to transfer? Any grounds there for a waiver request?

Think some had heard he could not play this year due to injury/recovery. Hence, no attempt to get a waiver of the rule requiring xsfers to sit out a year. Then ... we see he's playing on this Italy trip. If he's OK to play, why no waiver request? No grounds?

CanesHoops posted: "Canes close the first half on a 38-14 run and lead BC Silute, 51-43." That means, we trailed 29-13 at one point. Doesn't sound good that we see these wide point swings. Sounds like a lot of 3 point jacking.

Canes Hoops (men and women) have an overseas trip to Italy in August 2019. (Great for recruiting)

My thought exactly. Why no attempt for a waiver so he can play this year? I thought the rationale for not submitting a waiver request was that he needed this season to "recover" anyway, so just let the idea of a waiver go. To have much of a chance, we need him and his big man skills ... now!

That makes me feel better, i.e., Roseto seems like maybe more legit competition than I was envisioning. And, they had good size..

Marc, I was not referring to any one player. Just saying without knowing the opposition, hard to take much about the team as a whole from such an exhibition. If we had won, 110-29, we'd know the opposition was weak, What to take from a 4 point win? Hard to say.

Impossible to comment knowledgably without any idea of how "good" Stella Azzura Academy is.

Benefit of the doubt on the cramps. Gym air conditioned? My guess is no. 8 points might be a couple weeks' output in the ACC for him.
