Was Wesley Carroll an Erickson JuCo recruit? BTW, EVERY coach who ever coached at Wazzou or Oregon State had a roster full of JuCos. Only way to do it at those schools!

You obviously weren't around 30-35 years ago. Erickson won everywhere he ever coached before winning the 2 NCs at Miami. He won in the PAC 10 with Washington State (formerly the league doormat) when USC was a program almost like Bama is today. To compare Erickson to Coker is totally whacky...

Except for Jay Brophy, almost none of them highly recruited by other schools.

And JJ won with Schnelly's recruits. What's new? JJ let Maryland come back from a 31-0 deficit, at the OB, to lose. Players didn't execute for him on Hail Flutie play, or in what woulda been a NC game against Tennessee in the '86 Sugar Bowl. Not to mention the Penn State debacle in the desert...

Dennis is being underrated here. As an x's and o's coach, and an innovator, he was the equal of JJ and Schnelly. Personal issues and a criminal lack of attention off the field did him in.
