    2019 recruiting

I guess it's a down year for the SEC. Still, I'd rather have had Blackshear than Carey or CJ Walker. If he's just the same player he was at VT, we might've had him for two years (as I think he's just a rising Junior).

How good would it have been to land Kerry Blackshear? The VT transfer to UF is picked by one publication I saw as a potential SEC POY.

I don't think he'll return to Duke but I'm not at all sure he'll ever suit up for the Pelicans.

Can't disagree with any of that. I'm expecting Lykes to put up better numbers from beyond the 3 point arc this coming season (wherever that arc now may be located). I think our thin roster led to too many forced shots by him last year. Hopefully, with the help on the way, that won't be the case...

    2019 recruiting

What our offenses have come down to (with the exception of the 2012-13 team that won the ACC and the ACC Tourney) is ball screens to open up three point shooting. We epitomize the old "Live by the 3, Die by the 3" maxim. Lykes may have been able to, as you put it, "turn the corner and get in...

So ... since we're so heavily Guard/Wing-oriented, shouldn't we expect to see a pressing defense and a baseline-to-baseline, faster-paced offense this season? I would've said "fast-breaking" instead of "fast-paced" offense but to fast break, you need someone who can sweep the defensive glass and...

These are some of the comments that have fueled speculation on Zion's strategy; "Brian Windhorst pointed out that not hiring an agent or signing a shoe deal keeps Williamson’s college eligibility intact, as long as he pulls his name out of draft consideration by June 10, the early entrant...

Anyone think Zion will return to Duke?

As we all know, recruiting success feeds off winning, and vice versa. We need to make the NCAAT this season although I doubt the experts will give us much chance of doing so. Fingers crossed for a last minute big man recruit who can play immediately.

Today, May 15, is the last day of this signing period. Are we gonna hear anything??

Unless Blake James were to go in the next year or two. That might change things..

Walker, I think, is gonna pleasantly surprise people. Has that good Baltimore area pedigree, plus a year in prep school.

The Creighton and KU posters act like Miami is a distant #3 on his list. Probably just a Midwestern perspective. If he's Catholic, that favors Creighton. If he likes a huge state school and Final Four tradition, that's KU. We've got great academics, the weather and a great shot at starting...

Tristan left Omaha without committing to Creighton (supposedly, his last visit; unless one of the big boys suddenly has an opening). Both Omaha and Lawrence/KC-based commenters think he will choose the Jayhawks.

I know Allen Field House and the KU winning tradition count for a lot but ... Miami vs Lawrence, KS as a place to live; and pretty much guaranteed starter right away vs. fighting for PT? To me, it seems simple but ... last visit often wins out. Fingers crossed.

I agree that Stone will likely NOT be anywhere near as productive as Amp was. As far as athleticism I haven't seen enough of Stone to judge that. I never thought Amp was particularly athletic either though; actually, he seemed sorta stiff, not much of a vertical, etc. .

    Stone the new Amp Lawrence?

Stone wants to play like a guard so that "need" may just have been addressed.

I'm a big fan of what Coach L accomplished at Mason. And of the players on that particular team (they were much better than advertised). That team's core featured a very good 5th year senior, two other Seniors, a Junior, and two Sophs. Most (all?) were from the DC or Baltimore area so they were...

Moot point but, I expected Wilson to be as good as Zach turned out to be. He was just as much a "proven commodity" as Zach.
