We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

Gonzaga's talent in most years has been slightly superior to UM's. Where they have really out-recruited us (and most other major programs) is in their frontcourt -- with quality Euros, Aussies, Canadians, etc.

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

Might be easier to stand out in a run and gun system like Duke or Carolina than in a half court offense like we run. Interesting with Duke though, how many commentators are now openly saying Duke is a better team (defense, spacing, positive effect on other players, etc) WITHOUT Marvin Bagley...

Brooklyndee, please tell us how you know first-hand that BB has an "ego" problem.

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

Real question might be would BB and Lonnie actually have gone at the same position in a draft if there were no rule preventing high school grads from going directly to the NBA. In Lonnie's case, not sure he wouldn't have gone just as high, without going to college at all. Now, and then, he's...

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

Think it was Shane Larkin, #18 pick in 2013. Pretty sure James did not go that high. Point is, that was 48 years after Barry. Even with the dozen years we didn't choose to play ... that's not much of an NBA draft record to tout. Will Lonnie go higher than Shane?

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

Not a particularly great record over a period of four or more decades. I agree, Lonnie might end up after Barry. Salmons is easily the success story among that group. After Rick, of course. But ... you ask the average fan around the country who Salmons was, you get a blank stare. Fine, but very...

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

UM's Rick Barry was the #2 pick in the 1965 NBA draft. He's in every Hall of Fame. Since then, who is our highest NBA draft choice? Not a trivia question. Anyone know?

We are in Vernon Carey's final 4

See Zion Williamson the #2 recruit in the nation picked Duke tonight. Over his home state Clemson team (who were thought to be the front runners). That's 4 Top 10 recruits in back-to-back classes.
