I"m not down there, I can only go on tape of highlights, games and camps. That's why I tend to be too generous when I see a quality athlete, because I have to trust that the staff will do their due diligence on the kid's character, discipline, IQ, grit, desire to win, team fit, grades, judgment...

I appreciate it. I've been wrong on a lot recruits too. But mostly because I think they're better than they turn out to be (e.g., I thought Brinson had Ahmmon upside). I tend to give our staff and the high school kids a lot of benefit of the doubt. So when I am not impressed by tape, that's not...

Stop looking at the stars. Look at the tape. I trust my judgment over some dip**** at 247 or Rivals. Tennison was a stud we let get away. Francois trolled us. Avantae saved the class. BTW, he was not a consensus 4 star. Rivals rates Washington as a midrange 4-star (5.9), but 247 has him rated a...

Normally I'd agree with you. DB is different. Like RB and WR, South Florida just produces way too many DBs for us to not have Alphas across the board, or genetically engineered kids like Curtis.

I remember when I saw a CB named Antonio Crawford play really well in a Spring game and thought he would bust loose. He ended up transferring and being "okay" at West Virginia. Maybe Washington is good enough to start D1. If so, good for him. But we don't want "a solid with development and nice...

I agree overall. But OL and To some degree LB have been head scratchers. Which is why I want Barry and Patke out on December 27th. And the depth of our board is lacking and leaves us in a lurch at other positions such as TE and obviously DB. How can Rumph not find a second CB in the most...

It is. There are plenty of kids with amazing highlights that flame out, that's why you see full games, assess their athleticism at camps and combines, and do all the other due diligence. But I can't recall a highlight tape that I didn't like and the kid turned out to be a legit starter. Some bit...

You’re probably right, unfortunately. All the more reason to be frustrated we sat on him this whole year and didn’t find some better option. François was a total troll and never coming here, and coaches took the bait hook, line and sinker. I’m still hopeful Manny Has a repeat of the portal kids...

I’m not talking about the 85, I’m talking about the 25 class caps for 2019 and 2020. You can LOL all you want. But according to the guys that track this stuff, we have at best 7-8 more scholars available, possibly only 6. And we have a lot of needs.

He was injured as a junior and has never fully recovered. They played him as a senior despite that. His coach said he got better as the season went on, but I just don’t see that in the highlights

I wish this kid all the best, hope he comes back from injury with a chip on his shoulder playing high level ball to prove us all wrong. But nothing on his highlights shows he’s UM caliber. IMHO it’s a wasted scholly on a team the needs all the spots it can get to upgrade talent and improve depth.
