That was my exact first thought as well. My guess is that Patke is just moved to LBs coach and then he finds another recruiter to add to the onfield staff in a low level position. Sounds like Manny is all in on taking the reigns of the defense this season.

The ONLY saving grace is that Manny figured out last year that Banda and Patke aren't ready and demoted them back down. Hopefully he wouldn't have changed his mind in one offseason when he knows his job is on the line.

The defense seemed to get better once Blake was reigned in. Seemed like he was calling too much stuff that wasn't working. Is it your thinking that this was what Manny wanted at the beginning of the season? If Blake is this sought after guy, why did Manny need to step in middle of the season?
