Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

One thing about Butch is that the 1995 team would've beaten ND in the Orange Bowl but there was the self imposed bowl ban. So right off the bat it should've been a memorable Orange Bowl matchup with ND, and the 1995 team was firing on all cylinders on a 7 game winning streak. The defense had a...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

I remember the 2000 FSU and VT games and going through the programs and seeing how many great players were on the team. That was an all time great team. I don’t know what happened to those old programs. Sure there was the FSU win but the team looked incredible in the VT game that year even...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

Is that an upperclassmen Aaron Moser on the top left, lol. 2000 was an amazing team and the offense was definitely the best of the 2000-2002 years in my opinion. The whole team might have been the best of that period too. Wayne and Moss and Shockey and Portis just to name a few make this an...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

After all those early season losses, it would've been so great if they beat Washington. It should've been one of those seasons for the ages.

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

I thought the 1999 team could’ve gone further than they did. That team was almost as back as 2000. Losing 4 games is unfathomable with that talent. I was really excited when we beat OSU in the kickoff classic. And the stage was set for PSU. The walk out of the OB after that loss was the worst...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

If the 2000 team wins against an inferior Washington team, we might be talking about that team as up there with the very best in program history. The fact that we were dominating at the end of that game but still lost has to mean it was the coaching. I’m starting to think Coker was a hindrance...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

I don’t want to get crucified but I think 2000 might have been better than 2001. As great as 2001 was, after Andre Johnson the receiving core experienced a huge drop off with no NFL players. I think 2001 would get into a rut sometimes offensively because of the lack of a solid receiving core...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

And where was Coker in the 2002 Rutgers game when the refs let the Rutgers defense get away with pass interference and holding on every passing play for the first quarter and a half.

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

To me the first warning sign with Coker was the 2001 VT game. This is another game that should've been a comfortable double digit win. It would've been the first time in program history the Canes won every game by double digits.

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

I totally agree with Coker's recruiting. What I was thinking about, is was Erickson's recruiting in the last few years really that bad? The 1995 team is a favorite of mine and essentially won the Big East (no H2h tiebreaker in 1995) and would've played in the Orange Bowl over VT against ND if it...

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

I was as mad as anyone the Canes didn't play for the NC. That team by the end of 2000 was playing some of the best football I've ever seen the Canes play. But 1 loss and you can't count on getting in. The team we lost to had 1 loss.

Larry Coker was our Head Corch for the best team ever

Miami would've killed Oklahoma. However, there was the loss to Washington. That Canes team should've beat Washington by 2 td's. And even though it was early in the season the Canes opened up with a tune up game.
