In 16 games last year, Lala and Vilar each struck out 13 times. That’s way too much for 1/2 singles hitters. Lala hit .232 in 16 starts. They aren’t bad players but that can’t be the 1/2 combo on a good team.
I would agree that the Lala/Vilar combo at 1/2 isn’t good enough. Lala is a 9 hole and Vilar is 6/7/8. We need more juice in front of a really good 3/4/5.
