A few weeks ago he said that the thought around Miami was that we need to win now to make us as attractive as possible when the next wave of realignment happens.
After seeing Rad’s comments it’s obvious that he doesn’t see any better options for Miami at this time. He wouldn’t be talking like this if he knew we were wanted by the SEC or Big Ten.
About two weeks ago, Footballville said they heard something was brewing with Clemson and Miami. This Clemson lawsuit makes me think they might have legitimate info.
Hinting is putting it mildly. He is pretty much letting it be known that the big brands in the ACC are gone sooner rather than later but his sources are asking him to hold back on details. The guys from Footballville said they are hearing rumblings about the SEC.
The idea that UVA is this premium brand that conferences covet baffles me. If realignment is being driven by the networks, what value will they get from Virginia, a school that has no cachet among college football fans?
In the long term I don’t think Clemson is a huge draw. Sure they are doing well under Dabo, but if he leaves or continues to lose his fastball I don’t think they will generate huge viewership.
I don’t know why people post this guy’s tweets. He knows nothing. At least he stopped tweeting about how both the SEC and Big Ten coveted West Virginia.
I’m sure Clemson continues to work on an exit plan, but they continue to keep it classy and close to the vest when making public comments. Every school except FSU is taking the same approach.
