If they signed the LOI, they are bound (legally). They would need to be released from the LOI by the school. Think "Jaden Rashada". Getting out of the LOI is NOT automatic, the school has to be "nice" about it. So you might be technically correct, or fully correct IF IF IF the school lets...

Yessir. If a kid was nervous about Saban sticking in December, he could have transferred then. If he NOW learns Saban is leaving, he gets extra time to ENTER the Portal, but it still counts as the same old transfer.

No, they get a 30-day entry window, outside of the normal two windows. The transfer still counts as a transfer, though. No "free" transfer.
