I first learned the word in elementary school when I read a book on Roger Staubach. Later on, I took 4 years of Latin. Plebes. Confirmed.

That is true. Two things can be true at the same time. Current deals are pro bono. Future expectations are not so "pro bono". No actual contractual quid pro quo. But a hope that if you "liked the free sample" you will come back for more? That's pretty standard in US business.

Yes, and he was coached by Butch, so I am expecting that Dee may fake an injury to buy more time. [that was a Butch joke, not a Dee joke]

I have tried to address this numerous times. On one side, you have some posters who keep repeating the 15% marketing commission rates for PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES. On the other hand, you have the actual reality of college NIL deals, which are not true "agent representation" in the historical...

Dee, honest question...given what 5th/6th/7th round pays, vs. what some of these NIL deals will be paying, would you expect NIL to begin to minimize this temptation/need for a quick NFL paycheck, at least for "UM-type" players who could legitimately improve their stock by staying for one more year?

NFL apples and NCAA oranges are not identical yet, at least as to what a firm may charge a college player for an NIL deal (and let's not forget that many NIL deals will dissipate if a player doesn't play or transfers, etc.). At a bare minimum, if a firm ever charges a college kid 15% for an NIL...

Very true for pro players. As of 2021, I heard from multiple people in the know that SoFla firms were largely working with UM players on a pro bono basis, but the numbers are definitely getting larger and are approaching terms more commonly seen for professional athletes. 2022 is going to be a...

About six months ago, Pete said they were doing the deals pro bono. Not sure if that will always be the case as the numbers get larger. Also not sure if First Round is "needed" for deals that are offered to multiple players. What these kids really need is a tax accountant.
