I hear ya. I do think that the NIL rules will change the considerations though.

I don't know about mid-six-figures (more like low-six-figures), but I digress. I would hope that (eventually) these kids feel more secure in the money they can generate FOR THEMSELVES with the NIL deals than they do by taking illegal money from boosters (I know, I know, this sounds very noble...

Amen. I'm not sure why so many porsters who claim to be grown-a$$ men are so protective of their fragile feelings that they won't even watch video of a kid until he commits to The U. Maason Smith had me at hello, and "Miami is the best fitting system for me". Miami has won and lost recruiting...

The dead period has been extended. There ARE NO Official Visits.

This is the predictable part where certain posters (and you can include yourself in this) completely miss the point and begin to argue irrelevant minutiae. The part of the conversation that I was referring to, and responding to, had to do with whether top out-of-state talent will come to Miami...

I'm not hot about anything and I didn't start the debate. I'm pointing out that it is silly to whine and mope all the time about how we shouldn't bother recruiting certain guys and we "don't have a shot" with certain guys. I'm not saying that's what you are doing, but it's silly to sit here...

No ****e. It's a very fine line to set the bar for "out-of-state five stars". It's stupid. There are only 25-30 five-stars per year, and some are from Florida. So to sit around and act like Miami is supposed to sign out-of-state five stars every year (or we suck if we don't) is just...

Brevin Jordan was ranked #33 overall on 247 and #49 overall on Rivals in 2018. Jeff Thomas was #40 overall on 247 and #57 overall on Rivals in 2017. Al-Quadin Muhammad was #48 overall on 247 and #49 on Rivals in 2013. And then in 2010, we had BOTH Seantrel Henderson AND Latwan Anderson...

I'm not going to go into this again. Schools, handlers, boosters, etc. CANNOT "set up" anything for players. Players have to find their own opportunities, then submit them to the NCAA for approval.

Nope. Nothing can be "set up" to "get them paid".

Nope. And there has always been an easy solution to the problem of state income tax.

Florida has no state income tax. So all NIL deals are worth 5% more in Florida.

The best part is that Florida has no state income tax.

Again, I would point out that approach would result in 0 QBs and 1 CB signed for 2021. And no ICs left to address those spots in the Portal. I'd love to have Smith, I'd love to have T2. But we certainly can't rationalize overloading at 2 other positions with "we'd only get a 3-star CB...

Look, it's not that I'm arguing. I'd love to stack chips too. We have 2 ICs left. MAYBE 3. We have 3 DTs committed in Taylor, Collins, and Haye. Now, if Collins flakes, we can have a conversation. We have ONE CB committed in Burns. I understand your rationale, but come on. We have 3 DTs...

You think we are better at CB than DT? Funny.
