    Who was Traz Powell?

We could have overlapped. I would have been Class of '65 had I not moved away in '63. What was the name of the clothing store? Since it was on Washington Avenue, I'm assuming your parents were South Beach folks and might have gone to Ida Fisher rather than Nautilus.I would probably only remember...

    Who was Traz Powell?

What was Belle Glade like back then? In the 1980's I started reading about the AIDs problem, perhaps partly related to spread by mosquitoes and horrible poverty in the Belle Glade area. I guess the entire Muck area was pretty poor and might still be

    Who was Traz Powell?

I remember when Beach High integrated. Very quietly. A Black kid was in school in '63. No big deal. He was not prominent, like an athlete. Just a regular kid. The Beach kids ******, didn't grow up with racism so prevalent in the South. I moved up to Cocoa Beach at the end of '63 and started at...

    Who was Traz Powell?

I might have met her when I visited the store. I think he had a daughter who went to FSU. That's stretching my memory over thirty years. Marty was one of those old time Miami Beach guys, ended up at UM in the '50's. Maybe around the same time as Skippy Bertman. (We called him Skippy--was P.E...

    Who was Traz Powell?

Ali? Yep, 5th Street Gym. Right in the heart of what we used to call "Bagel Beach." No topless models back then, just elderly ****** immigrants of very modest means.

    Who was Traz Powell?

When I get a chance I might be able to add to it. I left South Florida in '63 but I remember a good bit of our history and general history of the area. I might try to revive another thread where I interacted with DaytonaCane whose late husband was RB Doug Davis in '57-'61. Like I said...

    Who was Traz Powell?

I wonder if he knew Cliff Murrell, a longtime teacher at NM High who also served as business manager or some other administrative position. The '63 North Miami team was pretty good. Had future UM players Joe Mirto and Vic Bender. Gables was the best that year, though.

    Who was Traz Powell?

Years ago--in the mid-60's--I had a college friend whose father owned a deli in the N. Miami/N. Miami Beach area called Obie's Deli (I think). It was attached to a grocery store as I recall. I was only there once. Over 50 years ago, about 1966.

    Who was Traz Powell?

Skylake Mall must be after my time. Remember when they built a shopping center on 163rd Street and that was something of a big deal for those of us who lived in North end of Miami Beach. Later on, in the '80's, I got to know Marty Rubin who had his UM-oriented Sports Den, a retail store of...

    Who was Traz Powell?

No. Then again, I'm not sure I remember other than Keystone, maybe because of my friend and they had the best football player at the time, Tank.

    Who was Traz Powell?

My old eyes are really going....scrolled down and there are some buttons with the page numbers and I see one right next to that (on the left) and it says "PERV".....and I'm thinking, what are they trying to tell me??? Then I look again and it says "PREV"....and I breathe a sigh of relief.

    Who was Traz Powell?

I can't believe I'm doing this.....I would have this guy as a P.E. teacher about 1960. Reminiscing about junior high almost sixty years later. Miss those Palm trees...Miami Beach....just miss it. Can't believe I found my relatives' house on Nautilus Drive. Actually found on Google Street view...
