Thank God for OJ Anderson in the 70s

Chuck was a Maryland guy, just up the road in Frederick. I've met a few of his relatives. I think his son Jay might have been on the Nebraska team that beat us in the OB in around '94. He had some great years at Minnesota but perhaps not enough. Those Vikings teams were terrific, but they got...

No idea what you're talking about.

I don't remember the Miami Bombers, but I do remember the semi-pro Bucktown Buckaroos (Bucks for short). https://www.newspapers.com/clip/6206788/bucktown_bucks_david_nelson_1984/ In the early '80's, UM had a JV football team that would scrimmage the Bucks. I'm too young to know first-hand...

Dennis Harrah was probably on the team then, too.

Disagree. George himself said to a group of us on the eve of the '89 ND game that he "couldn't play today." That was a group of us sitting in the lounge in the Holiday Inn across from campus. We talked for probably hours. He told us old war stories about his '49er days. He spoke a lot about...

OK....reluctantly agree to it but I'm not the best. MiamiJoeCanesExpert used to stump me. But his expertise was little details and factoids...my memory is somewhat focused on broader facts. I'm also weak on the '70's....lived up north or in California and press/TV coverage was almost...

I think it's spelled Banaszak. One of the Wisconsin kids Coach Kichefski used to bring in. McGee's nickname was "Spaceman." I mentioned third down punting and quick kicks in another thread. Young uns here probably don't believe teams would punt on third downs. That woman announcer called it a...

Thank you but I must decline. Best I've ever seen at pure trivia was MiamiJoeCanesExpert at old Grassy. He might be on here under another name.

Most OLs back then we're not that big. 240-250 was good size for a 60's OL. Wish I could find one of my '60's programs. Saw Hendricks play at Hialeah High in '63, but I don't remember him. In college an OL would block him low, he would put one hand on the ground to break his fall, and he...

Kelly's last game I think was Va Tech in Blacksburg when he separated his shoulder. Beginning of '82. He didn't play at ND in '82; Richt did. I do think Richt might have hit Belk for a long TD in that game but we lost.

Curci did move Foreman to flanker (unused terminology today, I guess). I think Chuck had a fumbling problem. He said Coach Jon Mirilovich used to yell at him and only made it worse. I'm old enough to remember when Mirilovich played for UM. ('57-'58).

I believe it was Rocky Belk. He passed away a while back. Very young. From the D.C. area. http://dtjngzbrownlog.blogspot.com/2010/11/thanksgiving-tribute-rocky-belk.html?m=1

Silky's life ended kind of precipitously as I recall--passed early--with two women claiming to be his rightful widow.
