This all goes way back to the SCOTUS case brought by Oklahoma and Georgia, suing the NCAA over TV restrictions. Instead of seeing into the future, the power brokers at the NCAA wanted control, and lost all of it. NIL is Part Two.

Interesting story. Thanks. And, the NCAA has proved it won't police it's members.

Eventually, players will ***** themselves with what they consider bad deals. Not enough money (less than the latest guy), or didn't realize the deal was exclusive, or pays less than imagined because the player's value is reduced by a better player taking his spot, or gets injured. And guess...

How do we know much Ewers got paid? IIRC, he had a three-year, totaling $1.5M (?) deal to sign memorabilia and make public appearances. Never saw the field unless mop-up duty. Did the company he signed with pay the $1.5M? Was the contract guaranteed? Or perhaps his lack of playing time reduced...

You’re the attorney…at this stage wouldn’t NIL regulations limiting player deals require player approval? A union, or at least an association negotiating a collective agreement with the NCAA, or perhaps a conference? Schools agreeing to limit deals would be collusion, no? States limiting deals...

I agree with your sentiments about mixing politics and sports…but… I’m no lawyer but I don’t believe SCOTUS is responsible for defining NIL regulations. The NCAA limiting student-athlete income derived from the student-athlete’s name, image, and likeness was illegal. Although the ruling was a...

His best WR was the transfer from Ohio State. Perhaps his recruits will step up. In the past there was the next 5*s. Of course, that can’t be maintained forever.

That’s the position Saban somehow whiffed for a class or two.
