Not crazy at all. Amazon has a deal with the NFL for streaming Thursday night games, and has MLB deals. I could see them expanding their sports presence as realignment continues to evolve. Bezos is more interested private space travel though, so whomever is running Amazon would need to make that...

I get your point, but we’ll see. Realignment is far from over. I suspect the notion of a Power 5 and a Group of 5 may well be obsolete. And the fourth program mentioned is Memphis.

Heard an interesting suggestion for the remaining 8 members of the Big 12. Poach Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, and one other team (forget the name). Gets the Big 12 into Ohio and Florida. Use elevation to the Power 5 as incentive.

I’d wager many of the BOT wouldn’t care, and dropping down to a G5 conference would suit them just fine. Conference USA? AAC?

I doubt Blake James has inside information on his own employer, let alone his conference. Whenever James leaves Miami, as we’re ever hopeful, his next job will be small school without a reputation in athletics. No different than Larry Coker taking the HC job to start the UTSA football program.

I understand he’s a Gator, but I’ve always respected Spurrier for not mincing words. And, he let Berlin transfer to The U even though we had scheduled the 2002-2003 series. Berlin wasn’t great, but was needed. Spurrier on Bama: “In 12 years at Florida, I don’t think we ever signed a kid from...

Dissolve the NCAA and form a new organization, only exclude the $EC. “You’re either with us, or you’re with the CFB terrorists!”

@Empirical Cane I like your analogy of $EC being Germany, circa 1939 (sans the other ‘N’ word). Notre Dame is Switzerland. Do the other conferences ally and conspire to isolate the $EC? Not scheduling any $EC team? Bolt from any bowl with a tie-in to the $EC? Reject any CFP expansion likely to...

Which sadly might be just fine with many on the BOT.

A PAC12-BIG10 agreement would not have to be 4 OOC games between the two per team (assuming 8-game conference schedules). Could be two OOC games, with a lot of home-and-home series. This leaves 2 remaining OOC games to schedule. The same with than an ACC-BIG10 agreement. Like other conferences...

Makes sense, as posted. The two conferences have a long-standing rivalry at the Rose Bowl, and OOC games between two are a natural extension. I don’t know about true merger, but an agreement to increased OOC scheduling could benefit both. Doesn’t the Rose Bowl still have a tie-in with both...

    REALIGNMENT MEGGGGAAAA THREAAAD

I doubt the PAC12 and ACC would agree to anything. No history between conferences. I could see, possibly, the PAC12 and BIG10 creating an agreement on scheduling. There is the tradition of the Rose Bowl. This could be expanded to more OOC games between the two conferences, culminating in game...

Agreed and already posted, suggesting a reduction to 70, or 65, but we’re busy with more fanciful scenarios. Would need to reduce in phases, from 85 to 75, then down to 65 or 60. Less shock to the system, and let attrition take its course.

Coaches will never agree to a salary cap. Programs already circumvent the limit on the number of coaches with analysts. And, there is no evidence of ROI in paying higher salaries equating to success. Michigan pays (or was paying) Harbaugh and staff as much as any program. They still can’t beat...

    REALIGNMENT MEGGGGAAAA THREAAAD

Texas and OU joining the $EC isn’t about winning NCs. They already have that opportunity by winning the Big 12 and qualifying for the CFP. $EC expansion is all about money, and both programs bring in more revenue. In a generation of mergers and acquisitions ‘enough is never enough’. This is no...

No argument. I’m not one to believe the ND-NBC deal is the sole reason ND remains independent. We have yet to see how NIL impacts recruiting, it’s been less than a month. CFP expansion has only been discussed. What we do know is the $EC is driving CFB’s future, and the other conference are...

ND joining the ACC for all sports other than football included agreeing to play five ACC teams annually. Right there the ‘they get to play virtually anyone’ statis false. They play 5 ACC games, plus commitments to annual games with USC, Stanford, and Navy. But, you’re correct, having their own...
