I was thinking automatic berths for the P5 champions, plus 3 three at-large berths. The 3 would allow for ND, a G5 team, and/or second place P5 teams. Add a rule no more than one at-large berth per P5 conference, so the $EC doesn’t try and force three teams in.

The playoffs need to be expanded to eight teams. At least. Players aren’t likely to opt out of playoff games, and more teams in the playoffs should, over time, help correct the balance of power.
