Are we still arguing a 6X SB winning QB, 4X SB MVP is not GOAT? Let’s just call him Most Accomplished and move on.

Romo is finally GOAT at something...

FULL DISCLOSURE: As much as I respect Belichik and Brady, I hope the Rams do to the Pats what Clemson did to Alabaga.

No, not all Brady, but the other QBs didn’t take NE to 9 SBs. Here’s a question. How many SBs would NE won had Drew Bledsoe not been injured?

Belichik did go 11-5 with Matt ‘Who?’ Cassell at QB.

Agreed, and comparing LBs to QBs is silly. I don’t believe there is any one GOAT at any position. There are a collection of elite players who you can say no one is better than, but there are equals. Especially in team sports, and especially in football.

Good question. Probably one, QB Tom Brady. (y)

I hear ya. Interesting note, there are only three players who started all four SBs for the 80s 49ers. Montana, Lott, and Keena Turner. I only wish the Canes could get back to the plethora of QB talent they had in the 80s: Kelly, Kosar, Vinny, Walsh...

Possibly. Hard to argue. Montana did win two Super Bowls before Jerry Rice came on the scene. Montana also took an average KC team to the AFC title game in his last season. Without Jerry Rice. Both are in the GOAT herd.

I’m not sure I’d rank Brady at the greatest player of all time regardless of position. I’d rank Lawrence Taylor as best player of the modern era (post 1978). He literally changed how the game was played.

Some fine lines being drawn, for sure. I do remember Montana winning an NFC title and a SB with long, last minute drives. But then, Elway took three average Denver teams to SBs before a team was eventually put around him good enough to win one. Shame Marino never had that.

Joe Montana (4-0 SB, 3X SB MVP) questions this ranking. But who wants to quibble?

People are kidding themselves thinking Pats have been able to ‘cheat’ their way to 9 Super Bowls. Pushing the envelope a few times, okay. Hands caught in the cookie jar, fine. The rest of the NFL should cheat this good. Wish the Bucs would learn how.

Brad Johnson was the top-rated QBs in the NFC the year TB beat Oakland in the SB. Oakland wasn’t trash. That’s dumb message board chatter. The Raiders had the best offense in the league, and Gannon was MVP. The Bucs (my hometown) just happen to have an all-time great defense and benefited by...

Exactly. And why he is one of the GOATs. There are other QBs as good, but none better. You can argue arm strength, mobility, season passing statistics, and career passing statistics all you want. Brady was the key player to getting the team into position for those five SB championships. And, the...

Does Denver get to three Super Bowls in the 80s without Elway carrying the team on HIS back? BTW...Montana won two Super Bowls with the 49ers before they drafted Jerry Rice. And those ‘great 49ers defenses’ had ONE great player, HOF and GOAT safety Ronnie Lott. In fact, there were only three...

Agreed. Except for the flag football reference. I remember football before the 5-yard contact rule. When the NFL still played real bump-and-run. Marino and every other big time QB benefitted from that 1978 rule change. The West Coast offense thrived based on the rule change. I still rank Unitas...

Ask Peyton if he’d trade places in the record books with Brady. 4th quarter comebacks versus Super Bowl championships.

I don’t think Brady’s teams were all that ‘stacked’. Moss is a HOF player but only had a few seasons in NE. The Pats lost the SB their undefeated season. Gronk is a HOF caliber player. What the Pats excel at is finding excellent coaches and very good players to fill roles for what they do...
