Canes fandom aside, Gainseville is a cool place to hang out. With that said, their stadium is a complete ****hole and I would take Hard Rock any day of the week and twice on Sunday over that place.
If you are willing to take the drive to Gainesville there are some cool spots. If you like sushi, Dragonfly downtown is really good. If you like whiskey go to Hogtown BBQ. Huge selection. Swamphead and First Magnitude are 2 good breweries.
