    Maine at Miami, Game 1

We found some bats! Nice. I'm going to choose to be optimistic, but it's hard not to notice that the bats didn't come alive until we got toward the end of Maine's pitching depth. I'll take it though. Get these young guys some confidence and rhythm.

Just turned the Sunday game on in the second inning. Already down 1-0. Apparently Maine loaded the bases in the first and got two runners on in the second. If McKendry doesn't make it deep into the game I wonder what kind of arms we have left for the bullpen.

Hahaha. The least deserved win of all time? No hyperbole. Is that the least deserved win of all time? Joe Zagacki literally said right before that hit, "This is the third opportunity for Toral to win the game in extras." Crazy that it took that many chances, but we finally got a couple hits...

    Maine at Miami, Game 1

I've been watching for six hours (six!) and it has been mistake after mistake. So maybe my frustration has eliminated my ability to be reasonable right now. But this is worst Miami team since before Ron Fraser, right? I can forgive players for bad performances. But this game is an...

And in comes the reliever with the 20.2 ERA... But we give up an unearned run.

    Maine at Miami, Game 1

Thrown out at home with no outs... How many different ways can we NOT score tonight? Then we get the tying run on a wild pitch. This is the baseball gods trying to punish us and make this awful game last even longer. Inning ends with two consecutive strikeouts with a runner on second. Both...

Alright, let's see if Cloonan can bunt these two guys into scoring position. I think I remember him blowing a bunting opportunity earlier (either earlier tonight, which seems like a long time ago, or maybe yesterday).

Wicho Hernandez says "You couldn't have picked a better time to get your first hit" after Quinones ropes a double in the 14th. Guess he forgot about the two previous at bats that he could have won the game with a hit.

    Maine at Miami, Game 1

"How in the world does he get caught at second base? He's the winning run!" Thanks, Joe. We continue to find ways to play embarrassing baseball. And now we have to have Quinones up to bat again to lead off next inning instead of going to the top of the order. This is soul crushing baseball...

Oh boy. How does this keep happening? Toral again. What are the coaches telling these guys who keep looking at strike three in game-winning situations?

Two more strikeouts (on six pitches, nothing fancy either) to start the 12th. Then Romy walked on a ball that could have been called a strike, and Gil hits a feeble pop to second. 16 Ks and 18 LOB so far. 3-23 with runners in scoring position.

Another strikeout (looking) with the winning run on third in the 11th inning. This kid Emerson who is pitching for Maine is throwing identical breaking balls that we keep watching drop right into the strike zone.

It's embarrassing. I went to my first Canes baseball game in either '89 or '90 as a child. Interestingly enough it was against the University of Maine. I love all things Canes and I'm eternally hopeful. But this is so **** disheartening. It's going to get ugly against ACC teams.

    Maine at Miami, Game 1

We're about to spoil a runner on third with zero outs. Two ******* consecutive strike outs... looking! In the bottom of the 9th in a situation that pretty much any contact is going to win the game. Looking!

Holy **** Cabezas just blew it again. Romy getting picked off in the 8th turned out to burn us too.
