    Those were final rankings for 1988. Florida and Arkansas finished outside the Top 20 in 1987. South Carolina finshed #15. Notre Dame finished #17 in UPI and outside Top 20 in Coaches poll.

    I disagree. The 1988 could have beaten the 1991 team. That defense gave up 9.7 points a game against a much tougher schedule. Other than FSU and PSU, the 1991 schedule was a joke. The only reason the 88 squad lost a game is it got absolutely jobbed at South Bend in the worst call in the last 50...

    I remember listening to the Jimmy Johnson Show after the Fiesta Bowl. He said it was his decision to throw when we had first and goal on the last drive. He then blamed Testaverde for talking him into throwing. Yes, Stevens should have ran Highsmith 30 times that game.
