@SWFLHurricane, with all of the development in Florida, where can search nowadays? I feel like everything is now private property or being built on.

They were both very destructive hurricanes. Why don’t we just leave it at that?

Really depends on how bad the insurance adjuster wants to ***** you. I’m sure many of the smaller outfits are going to close up shop after this one. If you have damage, it is best to get an independent adjuster than dealing with the insurance company yourself. They usually cost 10% of the...

None. They can’t actually force you to leave your property, but they can let you know you are on your own and help will not be able to come if you need it.

I'm sure they will upgrade Ian to Cat 5 after assessments. Here in Panama City when Michael hit they had it as a CAT 4, but that was because all the monitoring devices were destroyed and that was the last reading. Once they assessed the damage they upgraded it.

My dad always told me that there is a cost to living in paradise. Every time we went through a hurricane that was his line.

They said it is mostly due to the amount of rain we may get. There is a part of Panama City and Lynn Haven that floods pretty bad if we get a good amount of rain in a short amount of time. They don't want the kids that ride buses in those areas to have to go through that. So they close the whole...

At lease it looks like they are forecasting it to be a 2 when it makes landfall. Looks like flooding may be a big issue from storm surge and rainfall amounts.

Florida has been lucky so far this season. Looks like it may have ran out. Hopefully it stays under a 3. That is my threshold for packing up and leaving. Learned my lesson with Michael. You southerners can come hangout in the panhandle with us rednecks while it passes.

Really hope it doesn’t come to the panhandle. Having an addition added on to the back of the house and it won’t be complete by the time it gets here if it does. Wonder what my insurance company will have to say about it if damage is done.
