Robotic crew guarding embryos and/or pre-fertilized ovum that would get fertilized upon landing a habitable planet. It’s the stuff of science fiction. What I’m saying is it’s our biology that limits us as I think was kind of already mentioned. But that may be one solution.

    That’s the question isn’t it?

You want to cogitate on something? What was there before the Big Bang? How and why did it happen? Did it just come out of nowhere? What made it go boom? We literally went from nothingness to a universe full of wonders.

I mean, this is totally out of my area of expertise, so I’m just like a noob reading National Geographic or something, but my understanding is that it hit at an oblique angle, and that the moon has, or is made up of a lot of the earth’s mantle, which is less dense than the entire earth. The...

There is actually an explanation, partly explained by the theory of Theia. Which is the theory of how the moon was formed by a Mars sized object, colliding with the Earth, what a mess. Also, it apparently has a comparatively smaller iron core than the Earth. Sorry, I’m just a nerd about this stuff.

Seriously though, when you think about post retirement jobs, something like that where you get to interact with kids would be a great way to spend your golden years. You can’t play 36 holes every single day of your life.

OK so basically you found what I said in the kids section of the NASA website. Now I feel really smart.

That makes sense too. This is a big old rabbit hole we can go down because all things have gravity and then you can get started to talk to about the weak and the strong forces, and believe it or not gravity is the weakest of the four fundamental forces, which doesn’t belie what you said.

Oh and another thing is if you have an atmosphere probably most of the asteroids or comets, if they don’t bounce off, are gonna burn up from friction with atmospheric molecules, unless they are big enough to not totally burn up before they reach the surface. If you don’t have an atmosphere...

It may be plausible I don’t know how true it is. I’m not going down the rabbit hole of googling it right now because it’s gonna waste a lot of my time. I do know one thing that is kind of interesting is that the earth killer astroid that is responsible for apparently killing most of the...

This is straight off the top of my head, one reason may be it doesn’t have an atmosphere so there’s no bouncing off an atmosphere for celestial bodies that approach it. Also, the earth has been struck a bunch of times, but we have oceans, and vegetation, and an atmosphere and weather and...

https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/03/world/nasa-artemis-1-saturday-launch-scn/index.html Best report I’ve seen explaining the situation with the Artemis launch. I know some of you don’t like CNN, but there’s no politics in this video, and she does a great job of explaining to the layperson what...
