Is Orgeron the next Larry Coker?

We didn't miss on him. Shannon had a close relationship with him and he would have been signed. Once he was fired, Bridgewater had not interest. There was nothing Golden could have done to keep him.

Is Orgeron the next Larry Coker?

We’re pretty much saying the same thing. Changing coaches without a sound search strategy is a fool’s errand. Just look at Cribby’s post in this thread. After Richt left, there was money available, funding was not an issue. Blake James just got played ... again.

Is Orgeron the next Larry Coker?

To add to that, I remember an interview I read of our own Sam Jankovich who said in his travels to conferences as AD, he stumbled across a young Dennis Erickson who impressed him. He told himself, he was someone to keep an eye on. When JJ left for the Cowboys, he was the first one he called...

Is Orgeron the next Larry Coker?

That's more an issue about our selection process (where I have the real issue) rather than how quickly we make a change. However, in each instance, there were early indications that things were heading south yet the admin (sticking their heads in the sands) still offered extensions to Coker and...

Is Orgeron the next Larry Coker?

For all three, there were people in the admin covering for them. Coker - He won us a championship. He's 36-3 his first three years, 53-9 after (as the wheels were coming off). Shannon - 28-22 in 4 years. He got us a No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2008. He had the third best academic...

Is Orgeron the next Larry Coker?

The biggest difference is that LSU would have a quicker trigger if they realize that made a mistake. They won't let the agony languish like the UM admin. But that doesn't mean they'll automatically select the right coach.
