    Easily! He had an injury, missed all of spring camp, and was gradually worked into the lineup as a freshman. It's not like he sat on the bench for 5 or 6 games. His snap count gradually increased until it exceeded Patchen's. At that point, he was named the starter

    That's a different issue (which I agree with). But the question here is whether people played because of seniority. In most cases, there was no better available option on the bench.

    Every team got hit but it hurt those the most that didn't have capable depth. And if anything Bama and three other playoff teams, all had a ton of depth. That most likely why they were playoff teams in the first place.
