    I give him credit. It's just that it's a little tough to hang with guys like Howard and JJ. Here's another stat and the reason why, in my mind, Johnson is clearly ahead of Erickson: Each coach's record over their last 3 years... (mostly their players and their system in place) JJ Record: 34-2...

    I agree. Records are similar but the impact they had on the program are night and day.

    He was. I was comparing the coaches records after 5 years. Erickson coached 1 more year than JJ.

    The numbers say... W/L records are nearly identical. Jimmy played a slightly tougher schedule with better results. I'm not going out on a limb here when I say JJ probably has more top 25 wins and more wins vs #1's than any other UM coach in history.

    JJ was 2 plays away from 3. It's no surprise that Erickson's players liked him, especially since they won. Erickson's record at 63-9 with a couple of Natty's "ain't bad". I have nothing against the man, but I slot him in at 3/4 as far as my favorite coaches.
