Well said. Couldn’t agree more. For UM to get an ROI on 8Ms (+ another 2-4 for staff) the average class should be what UM did last year. Which I think it could be if his coordinators don’t **** the bed again.

No other way to put it, this **** is sad. If he’s an 8-4 coach (on average) after year 5 he needs to be fired, let alone get the other 5 years 😂

Michigan was damaged (20-18 the three years before Harbaugh arrived). Yet Harbaugh still went 20-6 his first two seasons.. The great coaches turn it around quickly. Mario is being paid like a great coach, and I believe he is a great coach, so Im going to hold him to great standards.

Agreed, no one has to win a title quickly. It’s more about the progress. I just find it weird we canned a guy so quickly who was making half as much, with half the resources… yet some want to give Mario 5/6 years without judging results. I get he’s a cane, but there has to be a middle ground.

Real question is, what top flight program keeps a coach after going 18-19 first three years? Also, no elite coach thinks “man I don’t want that top notch job, if I have a losing record after 3 years they’ll fire me”… because no top notch coach is even considering losing that much.

I don’t think any sane person thinks Mario shouldn’t get at least 3 years. I get being patient, but this is literally a “what if” scenario. So I’ll ask you, if Mario were to go 14-10 between 23/24, you think he should get more time with a worse record than the guy they just fired even though...

Difference is the standard though. Harbaugh won double digits 3 times in first 5 years. Mario does that and we’ll crown him. Depends what the school & fanbase think are acceptable.

He got the perfect amount of time. 3 years is the perfect sample size. How many coaches have ever won a title after not at least winning their division first 3 years? Bet that number is very very low.
